Cmon Mo,all this talk about why Paul left Leigh Centurions is a lot of hearsay, unless you actually know something most don't?Myself I've heard the rumours about why, but that's all they are rumours, I don't think in any way money was the reason, because Paul is reported to be financially more comfortable than folk think, maybe ambition had something to do with his resignatories, but for me only Paul and Derek really know the reason.
Then there is the reason why a big percentage of Leigh players jumped ship and went to Toronto, again I've heard rumours as most fans have, but again does anyone actually know the real reason why these said players ,left?

I rate Paul highly as a Rugby Coach, and like his professional approach to the game,I also think Toronto are nailed on to finish top of the League, what worries me is we have to play them twice yet,and I agree with Derek about us only being able to afford to lose 3 more games, the run of away games coming up soon will be vital in our quest for a top 4 spot,I hope we can show more improvement and give Toronto, Toulouse, and Fev something to think about.

Toronto, Toulouse & Fev caught Leigh stone cold early season, I suspect that as the season progresses the cream will rise to the top & while TW might be better placed for the Q8's challenge *by virtue of extra home games* I don't believe they will perform as well against SL opposition as some believe.

With Vai-Vai out it looks like DB might have to spend/invest to strengthen the side, let's face it we started with a squad of 27, one has left after playing 20 minutes & Paddy is out for the season, looking around, the squad was always too low on numbers from the outset.

I am hoping the team is strengthened prior to the 8's , TW look like they have spent at least the cap all ready.

Ste,DB quoted 1.67m all ready used. You brought up 2 new middles. There's nowt left for strengthening, should make the 8's lad. We go with what we have.

But surely, Baptiste's (considerable?) salary can now be deducted from the £1.67m? Also, I would have thought that Vaivai's salary would be covered by insurance, and possibly not counted on the cap?

Looking at the original squad, we were always a bit thin at prop. (or 'middles' or 'grunts' or whatever they are called, these days.) We only had Vaivai, Acton, Patrick, Mason, Richards, and Blagbrough, as out-and-out props - and most teams tend to use five in a game - two starting and three on the bench. Sure, you can cover, by using the likes of Hansen, but then you lose their effectiveness out wide - just look how effective 'H' has been out wide, these last couple of games, playing big minutes.

DB stated £1.67m on 'Backchat' Alan, that was after Baptiste had left.
Not sure on the rules regarding Vai Vai but would presume with him actually playing some games he will still count on the cap.

Please enlighten us, what budget Bradford had in 2015 in comparison to Leigh and explain why they didn't get promoted via the MPG and why ZERO Championship clubs got promoted in 2015? Perhaps it was for exactly the same reason Leigh didn't get promoted. The players collectively WERE NOT GOOD ENOUGH. From what I witnessed the coach did a superb job in 2015 as I'm sure you recall the fantastic Challenge cup run. His teams massively over achieved and played the smartest rugby I've personally seen since the late 80's, I appreciate that.

I reiterate again, from what DB said, Jukes had a whopping £700k plus extra budget in 2016 hence attaining promotion with SL experienced players. How is it that your intellects don't understand this FACT?

I respect Rowley as a player and as coach because he didn't/doesn't take crap from anyone. And for all you still dwelling on his move to Toronto. If he DIDN'T take the opportunity to travel the world, make more money and shoot for a goal of SL in 2 years -- that would equal crackpot!

Should've been good enough to finish above Fax and Sheffield though. It was said that the goal in 2015 wasn't promotion, it was top 6 in the 8s.

Travel the world  I'd hardly call East Manchester Travelling the World
I can see why people, including the RL Press, are quick to equate LRLC to Toronto, after all it is an unprecedented scenario that a new Club has ten or more current players who represented Leigh! Their Coach and his Assistant have also played for our Club and, they probably have more Leigh Heritage players than Leigh  Goodness knows where their next recruits are coming from? one things for sure, it wont be Canada!
Rugby League has been around since 1895 and we have not been able to expand it outside our three main Counties of Lancs,Yorks and Cumbria! It has of course been played in Australia,New Zealand and France for almost as long however, each country has an 'Heartland' that they have found hard to expand from!
Are we now to believe that Canada is the missing Jewel that has been discovered by our former Coach? If so PR will become revered like other famous Pioneers / Explorers Scott, Hilary, Colombus and of course Nanook of the North !! To think PR once represented our Club :o Statue anyone?
