Doncaster CEO Carl Hall's statement, which was included in the official statement released by Leigh:-

Dons Chief Executive Carl Hall said: “We are obviously disappointed to lose this game, which would have been a really good test for our lads and a good match for the fans, but understand Leigh have some injuries and cannot send a side as a result of this."

There were people at the club who knew the week prior to Christmas that this game would not go ahead. A decision made by the coaches I believe , worried about the prospect of picking injuries up in 3 friendly matches especially around half back.

For that reason, I never purchased a Doncaster match ticket but thought why agree to play it in the first place ?

It's not for me to say Alan but my take on it is it was since thought 3 warm up's is perhaps one to many.

What is not in question is that I was advised before Christmas not to get a ticket for Doncaster though. At the time I thought it a tad bizarre.

Gutted I thought we would base all our moves around him for the season and that he would be playing the full 80 mins in this key pre season game

We didn't know that the MPG would be his last competitive fixture, if we get 10 mins in 2 spells to thank him for all he has done for RL in the NW then its up to us fans to let him know how we feel about his career and to end it properly

Believe wigan as asked for four 20 minute quarters for the friendly it’s not kids game even though they will prob play the kids should be doing two 40 minutes I hope we don’t go for it
