We didn’t sign a marquee player when we were in SL, so why would Derek sign one for the Championship. He’s quoted earlier today that he’s found it tough convincing players to sign for a championship club and fans shouldn’t expect too much when it comes to signing players.

My bet is that we are announcing the re-signing of Hansen or Pellisier.

Possibly they are after a player who could become a marquee player..

I think people should remember we're a championship team that only had 1 season in superleague in the last 12 years so to get players of marquee quality would take some doing especially with the salary cap going up in Aussie, for Derek and the coaching team to get the players we've already got has probably took a hell of lot persuading so to get the marquee player every fan wants would probably be near impossible or the club would have to pay well over the odds,so who ever the club signs let's get behind them and give the new players a chance. When the club signed Stewart everyone raved about what a signing he was but he turned out pretty average didn't he

Well put Gunner, that just about sums up our situation, DB can only sell the club and himself on the ambition he has and the learning curve he has been on, even to his most staunch supporter he didn't get it right last time, he has to sell it to prospects that they are the future.
His two year plan in SL may very well have been to consolidate continuity in his first season with the Dads Army approach then jettison them for younger blood, who knows - albeit I am sure someone on here wil advise us, but yes I am with you it will have taken a lot of hard work to entice the players he already has.
PS if as you say Glenn Stewart turned out pretty average then I think that would have been a bonus, he was far worse than that, especially for the reported money he was earning.

Thing is Harry fans just look at names they know not what they could produce to help the team, the team from last season failed at the end of the day and got relegated also a lot of the players are not getting any younger from that team so I can understand on the wholesale changes,I know alots been said about certain players being released but Cunningham's come in and in his opinion they were not stepping up to the mark and because he's no emotional attachment to these players its black and white to him the're either right or wrong to take the team forward

Kyle Lovett has definitely signed for Leigh, I would be incredibly surprised if his signing is not officially announced later. Comfortable at hooker / centre or second row.

However Derek does go off spec with the announced running order occasionally :D

If you 'Google' his name, there is a possible explanation of why he played comparatively few games for Wests, last season!

Is the 2 year contract standard now? Are they not adding "with a further option" anymore ?

Exactly and KCs correct in taking that approach emotional ties or not, this is a professional game therefore there should be no place for sentiment, the evidence is before our eyes we simply were not of the required quality to compete at SL level, no good moaning about injuries suspensions etc all teams go through that but all don't get relegated.

Hansen and Tickle in my opinion are being held on should we not aquire the right numbers, they have been very good for the club but like everything in life in all manner of things they get to approching their sell by date and have to be replaced, I would sooner remember them for being the players they were.

It may just be a small technical issue with young Harrison's advisers that is currently holding up an official club announcement. Not sure of the full details.

I am however 99.9% confident that Harrison Hanson will be a Leigh RLFC player in 2018.
