The video ref would have full power to look at the last play whether the ref asked him too or not.

The problem now is that refs don't give a toss about the ruck. You might as well just roll the ball through your knees and ignore playing it with your foot in an upright position as the law states.

The call to give a penalty leading up to this for a ball steal was even more ridiculous considering it was right in front of him.

Thankfully for us, the London and Fev result was perfect. It's all history now and on to Catalans who for me are just a big side avoid of creativity.

Play expansive and the HKR game could be a distant memory.

It may well be history but I am suspicious about what goes on at half time with referees. In the first half there was little controversy the first penalty against Leigh was 16 minutes into the game. You cannot ignore the sudden increase in penalties against Leigh for offside in the second half, the poor decision to award a penalty for a ball steal for a clear knock on, the "non play the Ball" for the try. But add to that the failure to stop the clock on 3 occasions in the last 12 minutes. In the last five minutes the blatant repeat offending by lying on in the tackle - should have brought at least one yellow card. What did we get but a farcical team warning with 6 seconds to go - repeat sets against 12 men may have brought a different result.
Had we won the game by 4 points would we all have been so critical - it was always going to be a very tight game with so much at stake - and the margins proved that. A must for me is Clare to come into the team next week and if fit and available Hopkins also. As gloomy as it seems - we will play Widnes at the LSV and not on their atrocious surface - and yesterday's results went our way.

Considering the gravity of the call I want the correct decision, if that means the video referee uses common sense then yes.
Even with the increasing amount of play acting in RL its still rare for so many players to surround the referee asking for him to check what was a clear error (one he or his touch judges should have actually seen as it was pretty clear to all nearby).
I'm certain one of the Top 4 referees would have asked for the play the ball to be checked in view of that just to make sure they hadn't missed something, The cost of Smith not doing that could be in the Millions to Leigh.

The video ref isn't allowed to call an incorrect ptb, similar with forward passes. We went down last year to a forward pass in the corner.

Similar to all of this professional foul rubbish. We were penalised for laying on twice in the game, the fact these were in the last minute was irrelevant. The ref got the end spot on. Lay on once, penalty. Lay on twice team warning. Blow his whistle for end of the game. Job done.

Unfortunately decisions can go against you,and at crucial times as well, that was the case on Saturday, but it's also fair to say, we didn't do enough on the day. We must dust ourselves down quickly and go and get the 2 points in Perpignan.

It was a knock on on that play.

Scruton gave it away after Lunt scored. If the ref sees it or not, the VR can disallow from a knock on.

It's history now

Of course you only highlight the incidents that in your opinion adversely affected your team. We can all do that. Not to labour a point but you do not mention the "wrong" decision that led to the frantic last minute. The ball was clearly stripped, right under our noses, from Moss' grasp and then regained by a KR player. The ref gave a knock on. If play had been allowed to continue with the tackle count back to one, as the ref should have done, we would just have played out the remaining time. There were other incidents but there is no point in going tit for tat on perceived injustices. We all have them in equal number.

Leigh were very poor on Sat and anyone who thinks otherwise is not helping the situation The club needs a coach with proven track record to lead our very good assistants and I'm afraid we don't have one

Exactly but some people are doing a great job at focusing on a refereeing decision to mask and cover our very obvious frailties. The match stats are truly appalling.

The coaching staff need to earn their money this week.

..... and then the players, on Saturday! We've appeared clueless twice against HKR and, now worryingly, Widnes. (and often London away!) We have to overcome the stranglehold teams like them have over us, and quickly!

But in a tight Match those decisions are crucial :x I know you are not a Jamie Acton fan H however, do you think Smith would have allowed Jamie to put that shoulder charge on Drinkwater in the 6th minute without, penalising, putting him on report or sin binning ? Do you think he would have allowed Jamie to tap our players Higham and McNally on the face like Jewitt ? (imagine Jewitt playing for Leigh and the Review Panel  ) Smith found a yellow card for Jamie for knocking the Ball from Briscoe's hands whilst trying to slow play against Leeds! I can only presume he had no cards with him  We had two yellow cards at Leeds for challenges on McGuire after kicking the Ball !
Can someone remind me where we have won a game on the back of a blatant Refereeing error this season please? apparently we all get them
