Well Jimmy Ledgard was an outstanding player and Goalkicker and a fine man too! He played for over ten years for Leigh and was a full International and GB vice Captain( he was a pretty good Joiner too)
I too liked Geoff Clarkson. There aren't too many good things to come out of Yorkshire however, these two defied that trend
The approach Road to Leigh East is also named after Ledgard and, considering its almost Sixty years since he finished playing for Leigh, that's some testament to Jimmys memory
