What is everyone's opinions on this new format for promotion and relegation ? Not been on here for a couple of years so missed initial debate on here.

Myself I think it is huge task to get promoted for a Championship club. If Leigh does it then it will be be one of the great achievements in our recent era - bigger achievement than 2004 promotion season in my opinion.

Though difficult I do have to say it's a good end of season money earner for top 4 of Championship clubs - not so sure Championship clubs are a big draw for SL clubs mind. Also it's something new.

If Leigh don't make it this year then no club will ever make it (unless a club goes bust)

Good to see you back L, well its in our hands, yes it will be difficult but it's possibly the best draw we could have had given the teams in the 8's this year. It's still a huge ask for a Champ team to gain promotion by beating team/s that have been playing in a more intense higher standard for a number of seasons but it is better than the old "invite" system but not as good as top get promoted bottom gets relegated and others play off for remaining places , being allowed to spend more has helped and will continue to help if owners & income allow it .

It stinks 3 championships on the run and not promoted

Agree that if we could pull it off it would be a far bigger achievement than our 2004 promotion. In 2004 "all" we had to do was be the best team in the Championship and we went up.

Under the new system we have already shown we are the best team in the Championship by a distance for the past 3 years in a row. Unfortunately that is no longer good enough.

If we go up this time it would be a fantastic effort. It certainly wont be easy.

I would like the format if more funding were available for Championship clubs so they had a realistic chance of promotion. This season only Leigh have a chance and still feel they are a little way off been good enough. The question is if you are not good enough despite all that money pumped in how do Leigh or any other Championship team have a realistic chance of getting in to SL. For the other teams though it is a nice novelty to play some of the SL teams on a regular occasion.

I love the format but it needs some modifications....

More funding for championship clubs
Expand the Qualifiers to home and away.
Reduce championship games to avoid one sided games and increase more even contests.
Change the deadlines to avoid short term signings for the last month of the season.

As top championship sides improve the competition will get beater

Even having the funding is not necessarily enough. Another huge problem is not being able to play at the level of intensity that SL teams 'enjoy' week in-week-out. Still, at least there is an opportunity, however small.
