In the Wire v Catalan match at the weekend Tony Gigot got penalised for a tip tackle. It was a poor tackle and was basically identical to the tackle by Micky Higham vs Swinton a few weeks ago.

Both players were charged with a grade C for a dangerous throw.

Both players pleaded guilty to the offence.

Neither player had an Early Guilty Plea to use.

Mickey Higham = 3 game ban.

Tony Gigot = Downgraded to a Grade B - 1 match ban!

How's that for consistency? The 2 tackles were identical!

The disciplinary is a farce!

Let's see what is published tomorrow,as an explanation will have to be given to why it was downgraded.

I woudn't say identical Noz..Gigot flips him on the horizontal,Highams was vertical.

Gigot had intent imo Higham didn't. Probably means if you intend to hurt someone its ok, this is also consistent in that the instigators seem to be punished less. So my advice is don't get drawn in kick it off in future

What is interesting is that Gigot pleaded guilty to a grade 'C' offence, which the Disciplinary, apparently unasked, then downgraded to a grade 'B'.

Gigot isn't the only one who had the same offence downgraded to a B.

"Ben Flower (Wigan Warriors) - Pleaded guilty to a Grade C Dangerous Throw charge, the incident was downgraded to a Grade B charge by the panel and a sanction of a one match ban and £300 fine was issued."

You think Wigan would consider that a good result but NO, they are still appealing against the decision and want the ban removed completely.

Charged with a grade C (2-3 matches), pleaded GUILTY to it, somehow only got a 1 match ban and now they are complaining about that!
