And Behold, a pale horse. And on his back his name was death.

The weekend starts on a Monday.

Not trying to justify anything at all. What I would say is if you are spending more than 60-80k on the reserves I would be surprised. Good luck for your remaining league games and hope that Salford decide they don't want Sarsfield for the 8s series. Incidentally the same will apply for any of our loan players as they have to commit to parent or loan club for the duration of the 8s

Where are you plucking 60 to 80,000 from?
I can assure you that with the present management and board the money rec'd from last seasons adventures will have been invested wisely for the future of the club.
Full time this year would not have improved our season, Sheffield will not get in the top four and Bradford will struggle.
And remember, not one , including Leigh, of the top four championship clubs will get promotion this season
I go back to Maurice's original comment "not Fax because they took the P" and again say what a stupid statement.
That statement proved a total ignorance of the financial structure of our club.
Anyway, Let Charlie enter the debate, after all my mate Ian Knows.

2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!

How much do you think it takes to maintain a reserve structure. Couple of years ago a club stated a figure of 40-50k to run a reserve team. That's where I plucked the figure from. Why don't you ask at your next fans forum then you can let me know.

The issue is not what the money was spent on but the fact we did not go full time with the extra funding. The reason for that is pretty simple in that it would have overstretched the club and we did not have the players to do that which would have meant doing exactly what Sheffield did but we did not think that would work as Sheffield are now proving. The hope is that getting the infrastructure right at the club then in the next couple of years we can progress to full time and hopefully bring some players through the reserves.

Its irrelevant what it takes to run a reserve side as per my comment before, the extra funding simply meant that for the most part our directors would have to put their hand in their pocket less than they might normally have done similar to where as Leigh's shortfall from the middle 8's probably meant that Poundland Koukash had to dip a bit deeper in his.

Can't see the problem with the way 'Fax are doing it. It's a prudent approach, and maybe they'll be stronger for it, in the long run. If & when they go full time, they will still have to address the issue of current players who can't/won't be able to make the transition.

Our way does carry an element of risk - it's fine while we have someone generously bankrolling the attempt on SL. If that person can't/won't carry on, or we fail to make that step up, then there's a problem.

At the end of the day it is 100% 'Fax's business, how they are spending their prize winnings from last season. Good luck to them.

Reckon DB must be putting in 10's of thousands a month for which we as fans are very grateful. I do think that without a 'money man' it would be difficult for any championship side to go full time without finishing 5th or 6th in the middle 8s the previous year and even then they would need a further self generated income of at least 1 million quid.

Sheffields decision on the face of it has been an unmitigated disaster, the players that left, such as Brambini or Walker were clearly better off staying PT and working which would suggest the FT salaries paid by Sheffield are quite low. This has improved other sides such as Batley.

Just another thought re:the top 4. A club still has to meet certain minimum requirements to be allowed in SL, these requirements have to be met and approved by the RFL by the last weekend of the league season. If a club does not meet these minimum requirements and finishes above 6th in the middle 8s, that team will be demoted down to 6th place with other clubs moving up. Now based on reports from other fans etc about Londons current location, Trailfinders, they would struggle to make the criteria to allow them to progress. If they are to have different arrangements for next season then the agreements etc would have to be in place by the end of this season.

Derek personally I think if London where playing on the Marshes they would be let into SL. See you're point though mate.
