Great night last night at Leigh Miners fundraising for the statue. brilliant to see the legends of 1982 and other remarkable local rugby players. I think that It was announced that the target has been met and the statue will go ahead. Great generosity by loads of local business, great entertainment,
Norman Turley was so funny as MC and Jason looked a proud man. Best moment of the night for me was seeing Jimmy and Kenny Green still taking no cr****p from all the big lads. Well done all invilved.

I'm so chuffed the Statue will be put up,well done to everyone involved, Jason deserves so much credit ,the guy is a great bloke to have on your side in any fundraisers,or organising events,WELL DONE JASON .John Woods is a true Legend in Leigh as well as most RL circles when it is erected outside the LSV I'm sure ALL Leythers will be proud.

It was a brilliant night last night and everyone there contributed to a great evening. Not only Jason, but the whole voluntary committee have worked hard on this. Sacrifices have been made by Jason which have been costly to him.

The sculptor came last night - when he first met John at his studio to do many measurements, John to him was just another subject. After seeing how well he saw at first hand how John is respected he now understands how lucky he is to have this project.

We haven't quite met the £30000 target - but we are not far off! The council have promised us £5000 (the same they have done for Billy Boston's statue) and once all monies are in from the auctions then we are well in the £20k.

The auction last night, along with the raffle etc, has brought in just over £7000.
