Is there another sport (mainstream) where to gain promotion to a higher league you have to beat teams in that league before you can join them, even though you have greater restrictions on how much you can spend on your squad than the teams you HAVE to beat because for the life of me i can't think of one . I think that we have been denied the chance of promotion (all champ clubs ) for so long that maybe the size of the challenge faced hasn't been fully understood. How can you have half the teams in a qualifying mini league being denied the chance to compete at the same level as the other half. I understand that at the time of squad assembly teams are in different leagues so it's expected they have different restrictions and you can't know which team will finish in which position, that's what leads me to think that rather than the salary cap imbalance the answer would be as has been said on other threads the best two teams from the lower league and the worst two teams from the higher league deserve to swap places, but 99.9% of the time inter league play offs is only going to end one way, the way of the higher league team. If we are to have play offs then surely they have to be against teams in your own league using the same operating rules , both for promotion and relegation.
