Approaching the Sheffield game... : Sun Aug 23, 2015 8:36 pm
I think the club need to draw a line under what has gone on thus far.
A football fiend of mine mentioned last season as my team was running away with every match that 'we've done nothing until we've won something' and that is Leigh this season - great RL, Great entertainment but now lets back that up with an end product.
I posted on another thread we need to go into lockdown and by that I mean we focus on us and only us and any media is kept to a minimum and if we do say anything lets concentrate on us and don't waste any energy worrying or getting annoyed with things other clubs get or do, equally on match day leave the official to make his mistakes and not get too distracted by it - concentrate on us and what we can influence.

The lads have underperformed in the 8's thus far by the standards they have set, yet with that all important 50/50 call or rub of the green we could easily be sat on 4 points from 3 games against SL opposition so use that as a springboard to build on, get our fitness and mental awareness up to the highest order in this 2 week window before we play Sheffield Eagles and concentrate on us and no-one else.
There is lots to play for and its still in our hands to do what we set out to do, let other clubs comment and quibble and let the fans do the complaining.
We are a very good RL side and the Championship is a very good league, thus far its not shown but for now lets work damn hard in training perfecting what it is that Leigh Centurions do well.
Do that and hopefully with the help of some 50/50 calls or a luckier bounce of a ball we are more than a match for any team.

Its still in our hands but the real seasons work and the real effort starts now.......I'd take where we are now over this where we was last season, its in our hands so lets take the opportunity to prove we've not spent a season doing nothing - lets win something.

I think they should draw a line through it,not under it.Sheffield is next on the list as you say and that's were our concentration should be,not on what could be or is going to be..Take one game at a time and make sure the rule is followed as we have done all season.

I would like to see a huge marketing drive for this game and an offer for ST holders to bring a mate who wouldn't normally go or something - get 5000 on and show the players we are still with them

Excellent post Jenky.
I had nearly given up on this Forum - the last few weeks seem to me to have been a procession of rubbish, people posting for the sake of posting with little to contribute, a glut of wind up merchants coming from other clubs and pointless responses by those rising to the bait.
Nice to hear from someone with something useful to say.

Has there been a push locally on this game in Leigh?
Need the North stand packed and absolutely bouncing for this game as its probably the most critical fixture of the last 10 years.

Surprised Fax aren't going full time next season as well.
I think the success of this format isn't just that we got competitive games that mean something virtually all season with a chance of promotion based on what you do on the pitch but the fact any extra finance and higher profile generated helps part time clubs start to go full time, be that a full team or half the squad.

I think Fax are more toward using the finances for a reserve squad.Which to be honest is future planning and not short term, which can only make them stronger in the long run.

Here's hoping so. Going full time could mean that we lose a chunk of our squad, ala Seagulls, so not always the best way though I do think most of your squad went FT.

I suspect they'll be like Sheffield were last season - a sizeable chunk of the squad on FT deals, but not everyone. Probably looking to progress to full full-time status.

As pointed out, moving to a FT environment can be very disruptive.
