Starbug I agree with you, Cambodia are in the CC draw so 'pol pot he's one of your own' then in the next round we can draw Moscow with a rendition of ' Stalin he's one of your own' semis would be tough against St. Helens but they can try ' rev vallancey he's one of your own' that will confuse the beggars

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

:STUPID:

Whats that about sarcasm?

Seriously though, will we hear a rendition reffering to Cyril Smith at Dale? , and if not, why not?

Your job is hard enough as it is , we keep hearing how the club is trying to make friends at Red Hall rather than be unproffessional as in the past, at least attempting to ask the fans to stop would be a start

Group singing of totally crass rubbish including foul language, particularly involving people who are "mature" adults, even grandparents, is totally beyond me. To try to justify it on this thread using the excuse that similar junk can be heard at other grounds is unbelievable.
It is almost as if it is being worn like a badge of honour.
If we can't dream up some chants that are genuinely witty and amusing then it is a very sad day.
To keep resorting to the dross chants mentioned in the posts above is in my view pathetic.
It is unquestionably to the absolute detriment of our club and is damaging to our brand when all other aspects are going so well. Genuine Leigh fans should be able to see this and the last thing they should be doing is seeking to justify it.

Re: Polite Request : Sat Jul 26, 2014 11:04 am
Well I have said it before and I will say it again we have about 10 people who sometimes attend Leigh games at the LSV who think we have a problem with obscene chanting and references to a now dead Yorkshire man.

Anyone reading their posts who isn't a regular attendee would think it is a constant annoying ridiculously stupid irritant.

Over a full game this so called offensive objectionable noise lasts for how long ?

I hear bad language on public transport every day and folk listening to mobile phone "music" without headphones and I know which I find worse.

Yeh I am a grandad who does not join in with the Saville song but I am a realist who knows most people swear in certain situations but my kids and grandkids don't swear in front of me and I don't in front of them.

At any sporting event you hear the odd offensive chant. It's a fact of life. I put up with it in the same way I put up with pop music which is constantly played when I go to the gym.

Why not just enjoy watching the best Leigh side I can remember because after all
most of us go to watch the skill of our players.

Its not about you frank, or me, or tony, its about the people of the town who we want to come now and in the future, if you cannot grasp that, fair enough, and I thought you were clever

Thought

Folk come to the LSV to be entertained and if you think they give a monkeys toss about Saville' who most people detest or' the flute song you are mistaken.
