[quote="charlie caroli" I though Riddy did OK , took his try well , and kicked OK ,a couple of Cougars fans in the West Stand , weren't half having a go at Barlow for the first half-hour of the game , I honestly thought it was going to kick-off a bit , but the Stewards calmed it all down .[/quote]
I thought Riddy looked very sharp tonight Ian. That little rest has done him the world of good. His pace for his try was something I haven't seen from him in a while. If he had had a fully fit Kes then we would have been a lot more settled. Those games without Martyn have thrown the team into a bit of instability but they will be back to normal next week.
Very poor game, Keighley were dire - our ball handling at the moment seems diabolical, and how anybody can try to blame the ref for that dross is beyond me.
I know we have had a decent spell at times, but how this team (and yes I know full time will make a difference, and Leeds etc) would compete over a few games against SL teams in the middle 8 seems a little worrying to say the least. Said it last week, the last few seasons we have burned ourselves out at the business end of the season, next season it is when we will have to be at our peak.
Need to bring some serious quality for next season.
To end on a positive, Armstrong is a class act, Beswick will never let you down, Barlow is quality and Ridyard knows how to run a game
I think some of our players look jaded again, and some are definitely playing with injuries. Could someone please remind me what the original thinking was, behind accumulating a large squad?

Well said Col, I knew you'd talk some sense one day , my personal gripe is the number of obvious forward passes we do. I would fine the player who makes them. We never made forward passes on Edale Road field did we? I was bored yesterday and to make matters worse the lager was warm. Sort it out Leyth !

Tony , I must admit Riddy did show a bit of pace for his try , again I agree Ryan does not seem fully fit , last nights game was very scrappy , our ball handling at times seemed urgent and rushed , we were in full control for 8o minutes , and should have just let the Ball do the work .Easier said than done I know , but I think sometime this season it will happen and a team will cop a hiding against us .
At Wednesday nights LISA meeting PR said our new signing Walker is very similar to Sam Barlow with his ball handling , myself for one cant wait to see them both in action at the same time .
I'd just remind everyone we won by 30 points to nil against a Decent Championship side who are scratching for every point and fighting for their lives.
Paul Rowleys post match comments indicated that four of his pivots had not trained all week with injuries and indeed Brierley played with a pain killing injection according to Derek Beaumont in his post match comments.
Biggest thing to remember is there is no business end of this particular season the big business was to do what we've done and win the league and the associated 500k of funding which that brings for next season to enable our plans to move forward and a full time squad to be assembled.
Normally the play offs mean something this year top two was and is the main goal so it would be a bonus to win the play off series IMO now.
You would imagine two more wins secures our seasons goals and maybe a few can be rested for the remaining fixtures and get a few of the niggles sorted a d some energy back into the squad after what has been a tremendous season so far.
To have played 20 games and won 19 is outstanding and to have maintained winning results throughout bar Doncaster away despite some ups and downs in form at times is a fine achievement something very good teams like Fev, Fax and Donny have been unable to do match so I for one refuse to subscribe to any form of criticism of the team and coaching staff what so ever.
Keep up the great work lads best Leigh side since 82 by far, 13 points clear as I type and running away with the strongest and most competitive second tier comp ever!
I agree with this. Paul has been resting plAyers when he can and if we get the next two wins I think he can give the ones carrying injuries a rest and then we might be back to full strength and all fit for the playoff and not fall at the first hurdle like we usually do !

Can only imagine you are 1 of 2 people - both of who have different usernames on here, I am a little intrigued, as you sound to intelligent to be Dave@Twist

Sorry , I nearly called you Andy then I agree entirely with what you say , but I don't think anyone is denying what a great season we have had , and what a great team we have , the ride has been great all year , but there IS still a business end to the season ,because after we have won the League Leaders Shield there is around £100,000 at stake for getting to and winning the GF ,not exactly what you get for coming top but neither peanuts either.
As for the players ,we all know those boys Bleed for Leigh ,and applaud them for their efforts young Ryan looked uncomfortable at the end of the game , but never fails to give his all ,as do the rest of the boys , roll on Sunday at Spotland 3 points and a step nearer that Title .
