Will 9 of the clubs in Super League ever win it? Even with their new-found money, will Citeh ever win it? Point is, on any given day they can win a game in the top flight of their sport, having previously been in the doldrums. To me, that's success.

I have always had the belief that City would challenge for the league at start of each season when we was all level points. That belief went out the window once Chelsea took away our best player Shawny Wright (which is why I wanted Terry from them this season as revenge :)). The premier league as a competition is rubbish. OK Burnley beat UTD ( :D :D ) during the week, and celebrated like it was world cup. But because of amount of money involved nowadays the gap is huge, and we will never see Burnley win the league like they did years ago when it was a more level playing field.
Now that is a sport with a proper pyramid league for progressing. But for 100th time you can't compare RL with football.

How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?

If we get a bigger pool of RL potential players then we have better chance of getting more competitive players on the international stage surely. Having lots of FT clubs in top flight servicing a small area (therefo less people) surely isn't going to get us anywhere.
The sport has changed so much since 15 years ago. The players with the pop bellies are now disappearing and are called athletes :)

answer the question.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

You dont know that , quite simply because the path is not artificially blocked if Burnley were to attract the type of investment that your club has attracted they could

There are now 8 north west clubs in the top tier of football when a few years ago there were only 4

That scenario will not happen in RL again , and because of that the required investment will not happen , and yet the RFL's main focus is for clubs outside the top tier to try to get that investment

Do mean this rephrased question ?
Do you mean the Sky money that after 15 years has not produced ONE British half back that is better than Aussies?

Lets face it world class is a bit ott for our sport yet. Our half backs now would run rings round most of nations that play RL.
The fact we can't beat Aussies in a series kind of answers the question anyway. We have very good players - my own fav is Rob Burrow, and also the new kid on the block Eastmond. Them players would run rungs around the ones 15 years ago.
Hopefully this will change and we will not only have that ONE half back better than Aussies but a world class one where other nations grow too (France/Wales). But again rome wasn't built in a few months so give the licences a chance to hopefully help towards this. Same goes for Wales. London has shown what can happen given time.
Now you answer what I originally posted instead of repeating question to it.
Is it better to have 6 FT NW teams servicing a small area, or 4 NW and a team in Wales and London servicing a potentially much bigger area and population ? Forget the ifs/buts.

So you agree with me then. A club like Burnley can only have a slight chance of winning Premier League if they get taken over by a billionaire and money thrown at them. How is that good for football ? Why can't Burnley build to win Premier League ? Simples.......they can't. All their best players would get snapped up before they even got to be a mid table side never mind challenging. They can't afford to compete with transfer fees and wages from other clubs. City have always been around abouts one of biggest clubs, and the fact Chelsea took Shawny Wright away from us proves that Premier League is now dead duck as a competition for doing it the "right way"

Rugby League is folklore. What captures our imagination is not simply the winning or the losing, it's the stories. The stories of perseverance, of sheer will, of hard work, of heartbreak, of miracles, and of triumph and tragedy.
