LEIGH MINERS 14 V 32 OULTON RAIDERS
Leigh Miners terrible run of form continued with a 32-14 defeat against an inform Oulton Raiders last night at Twist Lane, The visitors made a blistering start scoring two length of the field trys within the opening five minutes to give them a 8-0 lead. Miners got themselves back into the game with a Ryan Smith try, Jonny Youds converting followed by a Youds penalty goal and the scores were level at eight apeice. Oulton edged themselves back in front with a penalty goal and the score stayed at 10-8 until the final few minutes of the half when Oulton scored to go eight in front followed by a miners try a minute before the break from Danny Jones, Youds converting giving the half time score 16-14 for Oulton in an entertaining first half.
Oulton once again made a bright start to the second half scoring soon after the restart to give them a eight point cushion for the third time in the game leading 22-14. Miners worked hard to try and get back into the game but the Raiders were not about to let an eight point lead slip away again as they scored two further tries in a excellent second half performance to runout 32-14 winners and on current form Oulton will be confident of beating the drop after winning there last four matches. Miners travel to West Hull on Saturday in which is sure to be another tough game as wests are fighting to stay in the NCL and miners having an injury list longer than a peice of string. They will be looking to end there rotten run of results ahead of there final game of the season next Wednesday away at Leigh East.
