Just in case anybody is making the trip over there are a couple of motorway closures planned on the way back. M60 between J18 and J17 and the M62 between J12 and J11.
You might get through just in time before they get shut. The slightly earlier kick off time helps but sky games do drag on a bit.

Does anyone else feel as though the whole transport network is grinding to a halt?

What time are the closures kicking in?

On a coach so we'll undoubtedly get stuck!

Cheers,

With a 10pm closure we'll all be stuck in it I guess.

Fortunately for me my lad lives in Cas so we're going as a family and staying the weekend. What's the best ale in the area? Do Tetleys still rule?

Watneys Red Barrel, and you can treat her indoors to a Babycham.

Mind your head on the pub beams when you enter and don't slip on the sawdust.

Its been grinding to a halt for years..travel anywhere in this country there's always difficulties... Motorways are gridlocked 50 mile an hour speed limits.. Go by train you pay thru the nose and very rarely on time.....and there's always maintenance work when you want to go anywhere...

Bloody hell, there's a whole herd of drama llamas here.

A couple of stretches between junctions are closed, off peak, for essential maintenance, and the whole network is in crisis.....

It's very true. Our infrastructure is just insufficient. By way of example I rode my motorbike from Malaga in Southern Spain to Le Havre in Northern France last month. About 1150 miles. I did it in a day and a half - no dramas. 1 set of road works in France, no queues anywhere and speed limits of 80MPH. Average speed about 65mph with stops. OK I had tolls of about £50 but that was offset by cheaper fuel.

Tomorrow I drive to Swindon and I know the M6 is a mess for 20 miles+ and then the 1 lane junction of the M6 and M5 south. 180 miles takes me ~4 hours. 45mph average.
