Would we have faired better or worse by sticking with Dec as Brown's partner and using the cash for others?

If he's going to cut the 'proverbial' surely that time is now, firm pitches, warm sunny weather, Longford in full bloom and a bit of R&R at Talacre Beach

Come on Mr Tumble let's be 'aving ya!!!

I've just had a quick count through the last few pages on people's criticisms of him. Apart from a couple of thoughts on him being disinterested or not winning enough MOM's - the general consensus seems to be -

x3
Doesn't take the line on / issues with his running game

x5
The money he's on / the marquee tag

For me personally - the money doesn't matter. We're a rich club - players on big money doesn't harm us. He's only taking up 150k of cap space whatever we pay him. It's not as if he's preventing us from signing any other top players. We'd previously attempted to get Barba, Williams, Tomkins, and several more (if you believe the rumours) and failed, even though we threw silly money at them. It's not as if Inglis has been clamouring to play for us, but we had to turn him away because Roberts was taking up the marquee spot.

The "magic" NRL players we've signed recently, such as Hiku and Sandow, have been and gone in the blink of an eye - they're too good for us and jumped ship at first opportunity.

Hang on a minute! That is NOT why Sandow left!
Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

I didn't give any reason that he left? I just said he left at first opportunity.

That's why I put it in quotes. People seem to expect us to sign players like that, when the truth is they're not really all they cracked up to be. Certainly not in longevity or consistency.

Give me Roberts for 2 years over those guys for a few games.

After that chase back and long drop out, Roberts can't be injured.

But in a world of salary caps and a limit of 2 marquee players, the money he is on is relevant.

He isn't good enough, as another poster has said he was a half back in a poor NRL team and nothing special....... but the least he could do is put a shift in, up his effort level and show a little passion.

I'm trying to eliminate reasons as to why he is so ineffective.
