There's a lot of shared qualities required in being a good head coach and good assistant.

There's also a lot of different qualities required for each.

Agar's record shows he wasn't a very good head coach previously. But that doesn't mean he was/is a crap assistant coach.

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on someone getting a positive testimonial from within the game as people praise their mates to the media, its human nature, all of us would.

You could appoint me as head coach of Wire for a bit.

My strategy would be to sign up the senior players on long term expensive contracts, give them a lot of freedom, allow them to go out on the razz and buy them drinks, be their buddy.

Watch what the quotes to the Warrington Guardian are when the team is in trouble...

"Dressing room fully behind Sally Cinnamon" says Wire player, "we all know we have to improve, we have to pull together but Sally is a great coach and we are all 100% behind him"

then after I get sacked

"Some of us need to look at ourselves in the mirror and take responsibility for getting Sally sacked. It was a shock to us all when he told us and we are all devastated that he is leaving".

Am I the only one who thinks too much is being read into a Richie Meathers tweet. To me it sounded like the standard send-off “All the best xxxx coach, no one is to blame blah blah blah”.

No one knows whether Agar was good or bad for Warrington. What we do know is that the coaching team had run its course and it was time for a change...

Whether Price is the man to finally achieve what we’ve been missing? Who knows... But the amount of changes he’s making behind the scenes shows me he’s serious about the task at hand and I’ve been very impressed, almost surprised that some of the ideas were not already in place. I hope it works out for him on a coaching level as well as a rugby manager level.
