We need halfs that can play what they see in front of them. All this one pass left and right to whoever is there drives me nuts. They need to be influential, imaginative and be able to boss a team around the park. I remember when we used to score tries from all over the park and not necessarily only in the opposition 20. Chris Sandow used to play off the cuff footie. Best player we have seen down here for a few years.

I desperately want Patton to succeed in the game. Give him his head and along with learning and watching Tyrone Roberts, in a couple of years, hopefully we can have a ready made replacement for when Roberts goes back to Oz.

I'll go a step further.
I hope Patton is that good that Roberts only sniff of selection is interchange with Clark.
What's the point in hoping he'll be nearly as good in years to come?

Notwithstanding the possibility that Patton is secretly a high quality attacking half who was abridged into anonymity by Smith, I don't think that will happen.

Agreed. How much longer do we give him - he's 22 already coming up on 50 games...

He isn't that good, he is still young and he has a lot to learn. Plus we wont be paying Tyrone Roberts the big bucks to play half a game with Daz Clark.

If I was coach and Patton was better, Patton would play.
I couldn't give a monkeys how much Roberts was on.

Don't take this the wrong way, you're not and I'm yet to be convinced by Patton in the top half back stakes. It is indeed a big year for Patton particularly and perversely if he's in and around a team performing well, he'll need to be performing to the acceptable improved standard no excuses about TS/RA

No doubt he hasn't shown enough to be MOS short list by a good way....but occasionally a 40/1 outsider wins the Derby...I know I bet £20 on it at near 55/1 on the tote.

What has screwed things up for Patton is the word he's pulled his hamstring. No official news of this as yet but reliable info.

That'll put his expected return behind that of Roberts. He's out of luck to prove everybody wrong that TS suppressed his game.
