The way im reading it, and correct me if im wrong but are there more happy fans than peed off fans. Reason i ask is all you see are posts by the club of fans giving support or the one way back about 95% behind them, nothing ever about fans being totally fed up with the situation.

Its like Trip Advisor or any website that you comment on anything, its always the negative ones who post because it is so easy criticise fro behind a keyboard.
People don't come on hear and say that yes we are crap this year but we have an understanding on why and think that TS will turn it round next season, because they hounded by the want to shout louder about negativity. I am pizzed off with the team the way they played this season but the dros that is spouted on here and the personal hounding is wrong.

The words "external consultants" are often used in a negative sense - conjuring images of "outsiders" coming in and charging exorbitant fees, eating lobster thermidor every day for lunch and invoicing us for it.

In reality, Mr Draper would have come in, identified a number of required improvements, and then brought in the required skills and expertise to achieve that, for example the delivery of the e-ticketing system, and a better use of the various social media channels.

The past couple of seasons has definitely seen a modernisation and improvement in a lot of the off-pitch areas that was probably long overdue - this (shock horror) costs money.

see I'm with Karl Fitzpatrick on this.....(and I have been critical of his appointment) to use your example of e-tickting. why do you need a consultant?

you know you want to move to e-ticketing. So why pay a consultant to tell you you should move to e-ticketing and x,y and z are the companies that can provide this service....?

In Reality you go to other sports that do e-ticketing and have a look at their systems. you then find the companies that do it and get them to give you a quote and what their systems can do.

Ive seen the work of consultants in 30 years of retail and its just ludicrous that people listen to their dribble and pay ridiculous amounts for it....the company I work for is doing it right now we've just chucked a 100 grand piece of work from deloitte straight in the bin. I used it twice ....complete nonsense.

Wires dont have money to chuck in the bin...

It depends what you mean by consultant. To take the e-ticketing example - if this mean hiring an experienced contract PM / Programme Manager to implement it then I have no problem with that and sounds sensible. If it's hiring in a PWC type then I agree - I've never seen them add any value whatsoever.

From the outside looking in - Roger seemed to bring a different perspective and move the professionalism of the club onto a different level and for rugby league had a broader vision. It would appear reading between the lines that that was too expensive for some on the board - odd given they extended his contract soon into his initial tenure so I'm guessing there was a falling out somewhere.

I would like to see him show some sort of responsilbility for on-field matters, considering everything he's judged on commercially, revenue, ticketing, merchandise, sponsorship deals, rely so heavily on success on the field. If he's not asking the hard questions of the Head of Coaching and Rugby, then he has no control of his own success or failure.

It wouldn't be so bad if he came from Player Welfare Officer, to Rugby Operations (?) to CEO from another club, but Karl used to work under Tony Smith. Have to take some balls to sack his old boss.

Correct - but when you say "you go to other sports" and "you then find the companies" who's "you" in that situation? Does the CEO himself jump in his Lexus and drive to different sports clubs to investigate? Then go out and research all the possible options and costs?

No. The CEO delegates the task to someone on the team who's better suited to the task (and more cost effective given a CEO's salary).

But what if there isn't the right personnel or resource in place to do that? It's probably not a good idea to hire a full time employee just to deliver the short term project. So you bring in some outside resource and expertise, on a short term basis. Sensible, as Chiswick says.

Has there been a stutter somewhere with e ticketing when fans still have to hand their ticket to a turnstyle operator ? The operation should be automatic to allow the fan into the ground.

Simon Moran owns 78% of the shares of the Warrington club (Warrington Sports Holdings). In fact it is not a stand alone company even, its a subsidiary of SJM Holdings North. So as the owner, he will certainly want the right to take decisions on major issues such as buying a new player, filling in the corners, and hiring / sacking the head coach. The CEO, particularly one so inexperienced as KFP will not sack TS. That decision will be taken by the Board, and since SJM can outvote the rest of the directors put together, it will be decided by Simon Moran.

On the topic of TS and his possible removal, I suspect it has already happened. There have been rumours about Wire fishing in Oz, but for me the video of TS's post Wigan match press conference was fairly revealing (Guardian website I think). We had won away to Wigan and the players at last showed the guts and determination that we have not seen for a very long time. However the replies that TS gave in the conference were very flat and understated, and he didn't maintain much eye contact with his audience either. He even started to fiddle with that XXX water bottle that I thought he had been coached out of. Looking at that performance you would be forgiven for thinking he was the losing, not winning coach. Either he was facing up to an abject coaching performance or he has been 'released' So perhaps the timing of his departure is the only thing left to be announced, and sensibly that should be when a suitable replacement has been found.

One interesting question I was mulling over though was how or why did the team produce such a powerful display against Wigan when it has been lacking all season. It could be that the mix has changed and bringing in players like Hiku, Pomeroy, Currie tipped the balance in the teams confidence, or perhaps as Deckchair said at the start of the season, there has been discontent rumbling between some of the senior members of the squad and TS's management style. Who knows.
