I swear had Russell been at fullback Saturday we would have won that game.
Its like When Matty is playing fullback we start the set of 6 at 100mph , however Steph has his own way of Running the ball back in which always just looks a little soft to me .
Just interested to see what people think ?
Playing Russell at FB wouldn't have made any difference.
We lost that game because for 30mins of it we had a massively poorer pack.
TS decision to rest Hill and Sims when we were on top but only 6 points to show for it, along with dreadful field kicking from GOB, were the main reasons for losing the game.
It frustrates the hell out of me why TS make fundamental errors every time we come to a big game.
Error one, make as little change to a winning team, so replace Russell with Rhys or Penny, instead TS makes 2 changes by moving Ratch to FB who isn't and plays Wheeler at r/c.
Error two, as I said above taking Hill and Sims off too soon, if you still have fuel in the tank and good tyres you keep driving until you have made a big enough advantage to take make a pit stop, without giving anything away. There was no need to take them off so soon and keep them off until the disadvantage was so great we burnt up reserves trying to make up the difference.
Chris Chester would have already worked out, whether out the storm of Hill and Sims, keep the score low, and attack while Wire run with Asiteasy and England. They executed that plan perfectly.
Chester out mastered TS as Wane out mastered TS.....
GF 2012. Playing with four forwards on the bench and dropping Hodgson who played the whole season at FB (pivotal hb role) that could have covered if we got an injury. Wigan worked that out and the rest is in the record books.
TS makes errors after error after error, we blame members of the team when they are shaat, well TS is also making shaat decisions that he thinks he is above because of his 3 CC win comfort zone. Well not from me.
