I think Gelling is probably the most likeable Wigan player in my lifetime. He's also a brilliant centre, I'd love to see him at wire but doubt that will ever happen.

Just don't let him near the coffee tables in reception.

Thing is, he's not a brilliant centre, he's a terrible centre, he's just an awkward human being and also at times an awkward rugby league player, he's got good mobility for his size and big arms which just makes him awkward and clumsy in attack, Who's capable of having matches where he stinks the place out as well as the matches where he seems unplayable.

His challenge is getting consistency under his belt.

That's a perfect summary of Gelling. ...he's not that good at all. ..

Had Atkins produced that dreadful forward pass to Charnley in the grand final people would have needed hospitalisation on here such would be the outbursts of "he's a terrible centre that can't pass."

Scoring an interception try kissing your badge and doing a forward roll does not a great centre make......

he's a character. ....once of few in the game. That's all. ...

Well I like him, he makes things happen and is still improving. We've certainly struggled to deal with him on a few recent occasions.

Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

Gelling like an overgrown puppy, likeable, clumsy and capable of devastation ( either way).

Perhaps, but could you argue Gelling isn't an improvement on what we have currently at 3/4?

You just described the Gelling of 2014, but certainly not the Gelling of 2016. He's been immense. He hasn't had games this year where he's stunk the place out. The pass in the GF was more Bateman's fault for passing to Gelling too late as he was being closed down by the defence. He has very quick hands, usually can put his winger away, and has a good offload as well. He can also put a good grubber in for the winger on occasion. Plus he makes great metres, and is solid defensively. He might not be as good as some centres of the past, but generally the bar is a lot lower in SL now for centres.

I used to dread Gelling playing, now he is one of my favourite players for us, and not just for his personality.
