Some encouraging reading. I’ll trust Price’s judgement:

Exactly. Under Smith he would have had a 5 yearer and testimonial. Price recognises we are under no pressure whatsoever from larger clubs for his signature and gives him the minimum he needs to.

Hopefully he can put his injury problems behind him and maintain more that a 50% availability rate.

That was the problem with TS, too much faith in our young Academy players. Kids come through the ranks and TS was giving them extended runs in the first team and long contracts. At other clubs it would have been an attitude of prove yourself or get dropped/shipped out on loan or to the Championship.

Irony aside, my only issue with the previous regime (whether it was TS or those further down the chain) is that we couldn’t take young players with potential and turn them into good or very good super league players. I don’t know at which point the chain had a weak link, but it did and it seems that’s been recognised and is being addressed. Let’s hope we can turn the likes Toby King into what we all thought Rhys Evans would be, and then we can put an end to all the petty arguments on here and enjoy some rugby.

Do you know that no other teams are looking at Toby King? Personally I think recent performances will have put him on most clubs radar and they will be watching with interest. Whether they get convinced enough to offer him a deal for 2020 remains to be seen. If he carries on playing and performing well we may have competition for his signature beyond this extension IMO.

I havent a clue. I did say larger club - and I dont think Wigan, Leeds or Saints would be interested at this stage.

You could be right, I wouldnt be so sure about Leeds or Wigan. Surely king is a better centre option than Bateman and that means they can move Bateman back to second row where he is best and probably free up some cap space. Also Leeds signed Brad Dwyer, I certainly didn't see that one coming. Salary cap and strength in depth is quite a difficult balance if king offers any side a saving without weakening their team too much then that's good business. Bad business for us though.
