Has anyone else been watching the Ipswich Jets coached by the Walker brothers in Australia.Been following them for awhile now and this last week they have won the Queensland Grand final and followed that up by winning the State Championship against Newcastle Knights. They have a totally unique style that is alien to just about every other club in Australia that is built around keeping the ball alive and playing totally unstructured footy.Gone is the wrestle,all kicks are short with the intent of recovering the ball.They force their opponents into running through their sets in as short a time as possible and then when they have the ball the aim is to keep it as long as possible and keep the opponents defence moving and having to make decisions all the time.If you havent watched it then you really should give it a go.Totally entertaining.Slowly its starting to get people questioning if their style will work if they get to coach an NRL side. Yeah, I've kept an eye on them this season when able to. They really have something special going on. I think a lot comes down to coaching and a lot also comes down to having a unique set of players that can play this way. I think it's making the NRL coaches think outside the box, which can only be a good thing.

Mentioned them in the coaches thread, unlikely but a wild card shot for head coaches.

Not sure so much about the attacking side with our current squad (Rangi would have excelled in the Walkers style) but the defensive side I am impressed with, pretty much the same at the Broncos, do away with the wrestle (for me RL has not progressed since it became the norm) and sacrifice the faster line speed for an arrow straight defensive line.

They have 2 forwards i was very impressed with.Both a decent size but great engines and good footwork which really suit the style Ipswich play,Rod Griffin 28 yrs old from PNG and Billy McConnachie 25 yrs old who i believe is playing for Scotland in their upcoming internationals.

I think there's something on anti social media about bringing in Billy McConnachie, apparently his nick name is Madness.

To be fair in the Jets squad there are plenty of players who look SL class.

I saw him knock that Jake Mamo out with one arrow.Bit of a sneaky shot but that Mamo is a real grub as the Aussies say.Tried headbutting one of Madness team mates so he decided to sort it out.You have to love a player with a nickname of Madness.Are the Scotland games on TV at all.Might keep an eye out for Madness,see how he goes.

He was a boxer at one point so you'd think he packs a decent punch.

Can't find any stats height and weight wise.

Just found that, works out in old fogie terms as just over 15 1/2 stone and 6ft 1'

Sure I read he's a prop, bit small if he, though we are in need of another back row for me.
