I know what you're hinting at
RedShed however I sadly cant see him signing for us. Why on earth would he want to? There will be plenty of Super League interest in him and Derek Beaumont revealed on twitter before the season that Koukash had already approached him and no deal came of that so why would it change?
From what Ive seen on social media Ryans dad (well, I think its his dad) isnt a big fan of Koukash at all and this will undoubtedly percolate through to Ryan. If his own family dont trust the owner it will hardly tempt the son.
Also, Ryan will be aware that our young halfbacks obviously dont like something about the club as we've now got Fages leaving after Sneyd left last year. After Koukash referred to Sneyd and Fages as our "future" then went and signed Michael Dobson on a lucrative 4 year contract it wont help the trust if he get an offer from us.
Additionally, its pointless saying he will come for Super League because as things stand we dont look like we'll make the top 8 for another few years so he'll be playing against us in the Middle 8s every season any way if he stays with Leigh (who I think will get promoted anyway).
Ryan has also recently taken on Craig Harrison from "Show Me the Money" agency as his agent. Craig is primarily based in West Yorkshire and most of his clientele are based at Leeds and other clubs. By partnering with Craig it seems as if his heart is possibly intent on a move to a club like Leeds with whom he has already been linked.
Add all of this to the fact that the club has allegedly received County Court Judgements recently and that Koukash is prepared to openly criticize players and pursue them for legal action it hardly comes across as an attractive environment to move to when he seems very happy and content with plenty of his mates at Leigh. We don't even know if we'll be playing at the same stadium in 12 months from what Marwan is saying!
I know
people will just say the usual stuff about me being negative but you've got to be realistic about this
RedShed and as much as we like to think of ourselves as the 'Real Madrid' of rugby who can attract whoever we want the truth is we're not a very attractive proposition for new players. Im convinced this is why Koukash is saying publicly that we're now going to focus on recruiting from the Championship: our reputation with NRL pLayers will be badly damaged from the Locke and Puletua saga. Most Championship and League 1 players will always be willing to come as they will jump at the chance to play full time but NRL and Super League players will be more wary. Reality is if a player like Ryan had a choice between ourselves and another club why would he choose us with all the current turmoil? You sign a contract with your
head not your heart and that's why he wont just join us because he supported us as a kid.
