Marketing prior to Wire Game : Sun May 24, 2015 9:19 pm
I just wanted to thank the club for the work they put into the marketing prior to the Warrington game and I think this obviously paid off with a crowd of over 6,000 on TV. The effort that was put in is the most important thing for me as a fan to see to be honest and it's something the club has failed with for probably the last 7-10 years.I still also believe they could be doing much more to bring in higher attendances. I feel the Warrington game should now be set as the minimum expectation for marketing leading up to games. (I doubt we will see many more £5 deals) I think a lot of people will agree with me when I say, there was a huge buzz leading up the match due to the amount of people that had been talking about it towards the end of the week leading up to the game.
I do feel the posters could be been much more effective and brighter to attach people's attention. Most of the ones I saw on Liverpool Rd in the odd chippy and shop were on A4 size too which I feel is way too small. (A3 Minimum)
As someone who travels from Salford in to Manchester City Centre 5 times a week I think it's an absolute tragedy not to see any posters advertising individual games other than the ones on the East Lancs which are incredibly difficult to read unless you are stuck in traffic.
Surely if we spoke to local businesses in high footfall areas they would be willing to allow us to use their buildings to advertise the matches throughout the season in return for free tickets for the matches. I'm sure if we can get Tesco in Walkden and Stretford to allow us give a leaflet out on every customer's receipt a smaller company would allow us to put a A3 poster in their window or on the side of their building/fencing?
We should be painting the town red leading up to every game and have someone travelling the City every week putting up these advertisements and changing the posters.
