Good john wilky last looked out
on the pitch at salford.
when the snow lay round about
deep and crisp and even
brightly played the lads that night
though the frost was cruelllll
when poor swinton scored a try
we had 94urrrrrrrrrr
To be fair you all have ago at Programme thrower for telling the truth. Would it surprise any of us if we become insolvent tomorrow? No it wouldn't! We're not that far behind Bradford and before anymore here asks how I know that, I've had enough meetings with the board because I'm a concerned fan and they've told me the same. Salford RLFC will do well to last more than 5 years in the top flight! (Awaits abuse from ex salford uni and the rest of the Salford will win everything brigade!)
I have long thought that PT & DI are one and the same and the similarity tonight in their responses (note the use of paragraphs etc). Mitie is probably a Swinton Fan & lancetodd just likes to be miserable - watch his face when Salford are doing well as he`s likely to be glum. When we are not performing he will be beaming. Just the way he is I suppose.
Now then PT or DI - whichever. I am a realist and have my own views. I dont know the back room staff (except Andrew who comes over well) so I am not privy to their performances but I agree the lack of marketing especially this season is there for all to see.
Look at Barton Airfield - their open day is tomorrow July 1st and I would guess everyone driving down the A57 would know about it - with notices every few yards - whereas even the finest mystic in the world driving down the same road wouldnt have known about our match v Warrington. Poor effort from the club.
Anyway as stouffer says - whats the alternative approach from you two? What is your plan? What can you come up with? What income can you produce to pay the overheads in the next month of app £200k? No matches in that time so its a tall order for you. Come on lads - you deride the Board - now come up with what you propose? We (the fans) are all ears.
DI,PT,MM Etc are they Neil Barkers informants/fans who are continually being quoted in his articles?

Insolvent? All clubs in SL bar none (actually Wakey maybe in the black) are insolvent - London - £8 mill, Fartown - £7 mill, Reds - £5 mill - the game as a whole is a financial disgrace.
Phew! What a relief! I was worried that after Friday night people on here would be talking about the performance, praising the players and all that rubbish (the Bradford board has 14 pages on the build up and aftermath of their game), but it's good to see we're straight back on to the serious business of this board: criticising the club over things we don't really understand.

Big Pev, sometimes I understand your points and I tend to agree to not on most things. Your comment it's a shame RL is not seen by many who purchase Sky Sports. As I understand it, I thought RL is highly regarded by the broadcasters, I've seen on this website before that is boasts some of the best figures behind the Premier League, so I don't understand where your getting your information from. As spreading the word about SCR into schools, I think Patten and Moon went to a school in CHESHIRE. Now I'm all for getting the players into schools, it should be encouraged more, tickets and freebies handed out to gain an interest. Why the club chose to send players to Cheshire is bizarre from my point of view, surely they should be concentrating on school within Salford and to a point Manchester. I think there is a Cas fan a teacher from a school in Manchester and comments the club doing good work. So Salford and Manchester must be the targeted areas not Cheshire when Warrington have now become a force, does Widnes come under Cheshire also? As to Ave it's post, I know I speak the truth and I don't come out with wild accusations, it's just because people on this site don't like being told how poorly the club is run and they'd rather thank the guy whose run us into the ground instead of questions his leadership. Thanks for the support though, nice to see everyone isn't as blinkered as certain people on this site.

I'm sorry if you feel anything I write here is abusive. I'm pretty vocal about that being one of my issues with the quality of 'debate' on here and it's not something I look to engage in.
You've equally misunderstood my position when it comes to the club. We're broke, I get it. I've made that very point many times. I just don't see what's to gain from whining about it like children. It seems if your objective here isn't to apportion blame and moan repeatedly then you've got your blinkered head up the club's ars*.
Nobody is under the illusion that everything's rosy, but there are more productive discussions to be had than the tired, derisive b*llocks from certain members on this thread.

Approx 5 years ago we had posters up around the city including a bill board on the Barton stretch that was prominent. Now there is nothing but a scruffy sign with the club logo. At the very least we should be promoting forthcoming fixtures on this board. Thousands of vehicles pass the stadium every day, many in the rush hour when the a57 is a car park for two hours and couldn't fail to notice any promotions.
The info provided on the clubs facebook page cannot be faulted but for anyone who doesn't use social media sites or the casual fan who doesn't seek out info we need to do more to publicise the club. Supporters buses were put on from Irlam station on Friday. My auntie was on the bus after the game and there was a handful of people on there. A couple of Warrington fans said nobody knew about the service.
Father Ted the Bus service was advertised on the club site and copied onto here, what more can they do, First Bus put up timetables in the Bus stops but these bear no resemblance to the actual service, it doesn't amtter if it was plastered all over the place why would Warrington fans know about it? I wouldn't know what other clubs are doing unless I went on their club site. Salford fans were on here moaning it only went from Irlam station, see i knew about it and i live nowhere near Irlam.

"To be fair you all have ago at Programme thrower for telling the truth. Would it surprise any of us if we become insolvent tomorrow? No it wouldn't!"
No but that does not meean PT is telling the truth: not an objective one. The evidence is there that we have been punching above our weight for 40+ years. We have stayed the course simply because Mr Wilkinson has kept us going: compare to our local rivals Leigh, Oldham and Rochdale. We were comparable to these teams in the 80's, 90's and to the SL era.
Now the inevitable is to happen, some posters get out the knives: they have enjoyed being able to watch SuperLeague for most of the era whilst our local rivals have, as businesses, failed. That they exist is down to some very loyal businessmen, some very generous fans, and that the RL family do not want any of these historic greats go.
You, with the knives, maximise the negatives, blame the board for facing up to the Barton move with the associated issues of losing several funding streams, and even whinge when the club goes into Cheshire to maximise marketing.
Have you written to the board to ask about signing, posters, and news input? Have you enquired about other business matters? Or is it you are whingers?
