It's not the first time during his ownership that speculation has arose about John selling his interest in Salford. However, League Express reports today that he is ready to let someone else take his share:

The fact that there are real professionals running the club can only be a good thing?

Can he actually put the club up for sale or just his shares? You'd think that someone would see Salford as an oppertunity to buy a sports team with potential.

A bit of a side issue will Tarry have shares in the club? could be a fly in the ointment if he decided to block any attempt to sell the club.

hm....so we were paying 750,000 a year and not its 375k. When it says Sale have taken up the shortfall, does that mean they are only paying 375k as well or are they paying that EXTRA to their rental agreement (i.e. to give them prime tenant status?)

can see why the new rental agreement was HUGE for the club...i MEan...an extra 375k that we dont need to find from our poor ticket sales.....so maybe sale moving in has actually been GOOD news.

It depends what you mean by potential. If you mean potential to be a higher profile club, then yes; if you mean potential to make money, then no. I think very few pro sports teams are owned by people expecting to make a profit from it.

A new owner would be buying a loss making name that has no assets, if John Wilkinson decides to sell the club to someone and they can cover the liabilities the club is sold.If you go past the obvious question of why would Dave Tarry block a takeover you get to the obvious conclusion that he wouldn't and couldn't. This is someone buying Salford not the NewsCorp bid for BskyB.

If the shares available equate to a majority it's the controlling interest in the club.

If that is the case then I can assure everyone that its a good appointment. It will not please all died in the wool fans though as the lad was a respected RU referee until last year. His business brain is good though & he is very commercial.

I've always said that the position of the stadium offers someone a good promotional tool (though that might have been reduced if the naming rights have gone to MNBA), I doubt Salford will ever make anyone a rich person but run right they I can only see Salford as a good investment.
I doubt Tarry would block any sale I meant it more asking if he had shares and if he did does he have enough to make buying them off him a priority for a potential new owner.
