I don't get the RFL trying to "add value" to the Challenge Cup Final with more matches?
For me there are 2 major finals in the yearly RL calendar and these are Wembley and Old Trafford.
For the vast majority of RL fans, Old Traford is reachable quite easily in a "there and back on the night" scenario and more should be done to Liaise with transport agencies to facilitate later running trains and buses that night, but Wembley is exactly that....the national stadium and one of the oldest knock out cup comps on the planet in one of the most cosmopolitanism cities on earth.
Buses used to run from pubs and clubs the length of the M62 and if the finalists made up 50% of the crowd, then they were well supported. The RFL need to give CC Final tickets to every school and amateur club along the heartlands and offer 50% commission on sales......offer spot prizes of a % of the coach fares paid.......generate interest and keep it going.
Imagine in 2020 if every school north of Watford sold 45 tickets and coach seats to the final, on the first weekend of the school summer holidays......what a way for the kids to start their 6 week break....a trip to the capital and Wembley. Even better......book a kid friendly half time act.......
Imagine if we got a Brewery to part sponsor the event by covering coach costs for their PUBS THAT SOLD 45 TICKETS........stop expecting THE SAME BLOODY people to book early whilst the rest wait for the inevitable discount code.
