Context is sometimes helpful. The first weekend in September, across North America, is the biggest of the holiday weekends. Everywhere, kids go back to school on the Tuesday. So it's the final blowout weekend for families to do stuff. People with holiday cottages leave the city. Many families in Toronto go to the Exhibition (fairground, food and ag fair, live music, etc), which is where the air show takes place and why there were F-16s zooming over Lamport Stadium during the game.

We were actually delighted that we got so many fans out on the holiday weekend, given there were so many other choices for people. Personally, two of my friends entirely new to RL came back on Saturday for a second game, and one is considering season tickets for next year.

Picking apart attendance at every Wolfpack game has become a spectator sport all its own even though, as you correctly note, we pull more than most other Champ and some SL teams.

Context is always good, thanks for that. Just for the record, I want Toronto to succeed and while your crowds are good I'd like to see them grow - as indeed I'm sure you would. There was no dig intended.

People keep mentioning the attendance because somebody starts a thread on it every week which then starts the merry go round of pictures and counter claims you won’t be taken seriously until you’ve been in existence for about a decade but you’ll be playing with the big boys next year , one thing I’ve noticed is your fans don’t seem to be bothered what level your playing at the numbers seem to remain the same

As you were obviously at the ground, did you enjoy the airplane display and fine beers on offer?

I thought it was a five drives & a kick rugby league game not a air display or a beer festival.

Where do spectators go for shelter if it rains during in a game at the Lamport Stadium?

Surely it can only be a player from Catalans. Probably the best RL side I have ever witnessed in this season's comp.

We're a new club. It's about getting people who've never heard of rugby league into the stadium and making sure they have a good time. You don't do that by banging on about knock ons and the 40/20. You do that by getting the lads on local sports tv, having a stadium that's easy to get to, having a beer garden, and creating a fun atmosphere. Once people have experienced it, they usually come back for more and start learning the rules and following the game.

I've attended every home game at Lamport for two seasons, except one. There's only one where it rained heavily all day just before the game, but it stopped before kick off. Our summer weather isn't as changeable as the weather in England. If we are expecting rain, we bring ponchos. There is also a concourse under the stands where you could shelter if you were the timid sort.

Really, you folk have to stop worrying about our ground, our weather, the national anthems, the lines on the pitch, the once-a-year air show, the beer garden, the attendance. We're sorted.

Apart from the fact that the season starts in Feb and due to the weather you can't play home games until end march

Mind you, that new pitch is an all weather one so does that change things

Lamport is a community field. In winter there is a cover over the pitch - it looks like a giant tent - so that sports teams can continue to use it for indoor football, lacrosse and so on. I think the cover comes off in April. If I were an away team, I'd be quite happy to avoid playing here in the cold. However Toronto FC play outdoors as early as the end of Feb/beginning of March so it's not impossible.

We don't care mate, TWP will be a dead duck in 2 or 3 years. Supposedly 7-8000 fans but the sound coming from them is like there's 70-80 fans in the ground. It was rockin' at the Shay earlier today with just 2,500 supporters but with 3 times that number in Lamport they should need to be turning the microphones on to close to mute to keep from breaking them. Toronto doesn't give a monkeys about RL, just a day out in a beer tent.

Fax got stuffed today by a far better team, but let's see who's still around in 5 or 10 years time?

I really feel you need to be weaned off the M62 clothcap world view pal.
Welcome to the world beyond Featherstone and Leigh. Yes a big wide world of diversity and culture.
