Despite playing the vast majority of his career over here, Brian Bevan featured in the Rugby League Centenary Team of the Century https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Rugby_League%27s_Team_of_the_Century Down Under.
Today he has been included in the ten player shortlist for elevation to Rugby League Immortal https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/darren-lockyer-and-mal-meninga-join-a-host-of-champion-players-from-other-eras-as-the-immortals-10man-shortlist-is-revealed/news-story/54e7063f3bc06b8f086ad7581b34af7f alongside Clive Churchill, Bob Fulton, Reg Gasnier, Graeme Langlands, Johnny Raper, Wally Lewis, Arthur Beetson and Andrew Johns.
Recognition for a true Champion of British Rugby League.

This is the first time that the judges have gone back to the beginning of the game.

I suspect that Brian Bevan won't get the confirmation this time, because it will go to pre-WWII greats Herbert Henry "Dally" Messenger and David Brown.

Maybe next round for the fabulous Brian Bevan.

Saw all of the 7 that played post WW2. Hall and Bevan in England and the others here in Aus. First saw Bevan in a Hull v Warrington match back in 48/49 and he ranks as as my favourite ever player.


I think they could go 1"ancient"- Messenger and 1"modern"- Meninga.
