Some shockingly one-eyed refereeing going on. The contrast between giving a kick-on against Catalans when O’Loughlin clearly stripped the ball, followed by then awarding a penalty to Wigan when Gigot striped it, summed it up.
Catalans give many stupid penalties away, but somehow this ref didn’t see similar offences when committed by Wigan.
The issue for me isn’t the penalties awarded against Catalans, it’s the fact that week after week, the sides they play seem to benefit from conceding fewer penalties than normal. It’s too consistent to be purely coincidental.
