Hayne didn't seem that motivated, but most of those guys had the games of their lives. Mick Potter was quoted before the tournament as saying they weren't just going to make up the numbers, they were in this to win it. Seemed crazy at the time.
Fiji were sensational. Guys , determination and effort. Should have won easier and turned down 2 kickable pens which i thought would cost them. Think NZ thought they could just rock up. Let's hope England don't have that mentality tomorrow. Despite it giving Australia an easier path to the final I was absolutely chuffed for Fiji. Probably the most passionate I've felt myself when watching a game of international rugby league. Bravo.
Massive plaudits to Fiji but NZ were shocking, structure absolutely gone to pot and ended up playing the Fijian's at their own game and lost. Does the coach need to go, well that performance speaks volumes. Fiji will put in a dig but can't see anything but a win by the crims by 20+.
JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.
Losses to Australia (4), Tonga (1), Fiji (1) a draw v Scotland and only wins v England (1) Scotland (1) and Samoa (2)..11 games and that record is a shocker. NZ rugby League is rotting from the inside out and this World Cup needs to be the catalyst for change right through the organisation.....
