So the other 22 fixtures have no impact do they? It's an odd fixture but at a neutral ground with no distinct advantage for any team, so if a team doesn't win then it's tough tits surely.

They do of course, hence my reference to the potential of moving between 8th and 9th in my post. It's a fine margin that can be influenced by one game, but, the difference for the next part of season post game 23 could be dramatic.

The advantage/disadvantage of course is who you opponent is in comparison to those other fixtures of teams jockeying around 8th 9th

Surprised its staying in Newcastle with the noises the RFL were making, hoping that means they have accepted a much larger fee from the council to keep it there. Good news for me as I like the city and the ground.

My thoughts exactly. Would have been disappointed if it had gone to Coventry.

Too big a stadium which ends up being part of the reason they have to giveaway tickets foe peanuts.
It's also miles away, have it more centrally located and you might just see more fans from the southern regions turn up.

Having it in Newcastle is just basically to appease the fans who want somewhere to go for a mickey up with a bit of RL squeezed in.
I'd rather it was dropped completely and lose the two games over a weekend rubbish

I wonder what else is miles away?

Also I'm sure the "mickey up" argument was used by people who preferred for Catalans to stay up.

My thoughts ?

It reminds me again of the sheer idiocy of the people that rabbit on about finishing top under the current system when the fixtures aren't equal. Cas and Leeds have to battle it out in a doozy whilst saints get a bye?

Then of course you have implications with relegation as has already been mentioned.

Seems legit.

I agree - it's unfair to skew the league with this pointless exercise, particularly now that P&R is back. This year, Saints, Wakey and Hull FC have been handed an easy 2 points, while everyone else is in a genuine tussle for points, that could make a massive difference to the fortunes of their club.

I don't mind the idea of every fixture being played at one venue - but just make it a regular round.

So the home team loses advantage for one game- Do you see how it isn't that easy to please all????

"I'm sorry, but I would hope that we would beat Cas with a 1 day turnaround."

An arrogant Wigan fan a few days before we stuffed them 18-4 at the JJB.

:D :D Didn't Fartown beat you last time the cluba met ? Whilst I do fancy Wakey to keep up their challenge next year I think huddersfield will be better as well .

Especially if you keep the Hull derby at Magic then one of the Hull teams loses its biggest gate of the season, if Cas lost their home fixture vs Leeds it's one of their biggest, likewise Wigan vs Warrington.

A main reason we've got some many games is because clubs say they need more home games to bring money in, taking away one of if not their biggest gate of the season isn't going to help things.

Yep - I was pulled up about this on our own board too, by a poster who'd clearly put more thought into it than I had; his idea:

Fordy wrote:
Why not play 22 games (home and away) and then do the split, with the Magic weekend then being used to launch the Super 8s, then giving everyone 3 home, 3 away and the Magic game in the Super 8s.

Which seems very sensible.
