Cas have confirmed this evening that Luke Gale underwent surgery on his appendix earlier today. No word yet on how long this will rule him out but I'd say there's a pretty good chance that's his season over.

Cruel luck for Castleford, I know they're not a one man team but Gale is a key player for them and to have something like this happen at the most important part of the season is really unfortunate.

I had an emergency appendectomy and it took 3 weeks to feel 'comfortable' again. Taking in to account his profession, he'll do well to play again this season but I wouldn't count him out for a GF appearance if Cas make it.

It's all mind games.
Gale was due to be rested against Wigan and Hull.
This means whoever we play in the semi-final won't know whether Gale will play or not.
Remember Cas once claimed Rangi Chase was standing trial in Australia before a cup semi final. He had never even left Castleford.
Gale will be back for the semi final.

to be fair that's pretty well believable for chase though
The referee's indecision is final

The Cas statement goes a bit OTT at the end

"The club request that both the media and fans now give Luke time to recover with no further questiona"

Kind of thing people say when someone dies and their families privacy is asked to be respected.

Who will replace Lucas Gale if it turns out he cannot play in the semis or the final?
Toulouse for Championship in 2017, Super League in 2019!

Avignon for Championship in 2020, Super League in 2021!

Thomas Holmes or Paul McShane will join Benjamin Roberts in the halves and Adam Milner will play 9. Maybe either Grant Millington will return to his second position of stand off allowing Roberts to play 7. Who knows. I think if we get to old Trafford he plays as it's best part of 4 weeks away. The getting there is going to prove to be a bigger obstacle without him though.
"I'm sorry, but I would hope that we would beat Cas with a 1 day turnaround."

An arrogant Wigan fan a few days before we stuffed them 18-4 at the JJB.

My appendix wasn't an emergency but it was pretty urgent but I was up and running again in 3 weeks.
I'm not a professional sportsman but I was in my mid 50's. I would say it is unlikely he will play again this season.
If not it's a shame because he's had a really good season.
Keep goin wit yed down

I'm trying to imagine this same post if Danny McGuire got the same injury??
