I can't think of a single season they wouldn't have looked good in or a single SL team they don't look the equal of.
Sadly what upsets people is they have broken the status quo and gone off script.
Castleford - KNOW YOUR LIMITS
Although I agree with you that this current Cas team would be competitive in any era that is down to the quality of the coaching. They are nowhere near as strong as recent squads of Wigan, Saints, Bradford, Leeds. In fact I think they are a fair bit weaker than the Cas teams of the early 90s, with the likes of Steadman, St John Ellis, Blackmore, Kemp, Ford, Crooks, Nikau, Sampson.

I get your point but I don't see it that way. Teams win titles not individuals. All great players but they won virtually nothing. I fear this Cas team will only gain retrospective respect as at the moment people just seem intent on talking the game down. Then we wonder why football and RU get all the interest.
More deluded nonsense. If my own team don't win the GF I'd rather see Cas or a new team win it rather than Wigan or Saints, likewise I'm sure most Wigan fans would want a Cas win over Leeds or Saints and the same goes for Saints wrt to Wigan and Leeds.
We want our own personal teams to win obviously but if that doesn't happen this idea we'd want the 'status quo' to remain with one of the other 'big clubs' winning is stupid.
'Deluded nonsense' is it, do you read your own posts before pressing the submit button - you really should

The Cas 94 team, with Powell as coach, would walk SL IMO, & should have done far more than a Regal Trophy . I still enjoy my RL as much as ever, probably more so this season for obvious reasons, & never talk it down.
There seems to be some point missing going on - the original question was about pundits and commentators talking up the perceived bigger clubs, even when they don't deserve it - not fans; one would expect fans to talk up their own team - or I guess talk down their opposition, so who Leeds fans want to win the GF is irrelevant. But it can be frustrating when supposedly neutral commentators do the same, as that, by extension, fails to acknowledge the achievements of others.
I think it's usually a mechanism to create a story - since they have to have something to talk about - rather than done with deliberate intent to be disrespectful to the other team - because I don't have a small club chip on my shoulder, despite supporting the ginger stepchild of SL.

They'll talk about the big clubs still because they have more fans so more likely to be interested in hearing about their clubs.
Example if Man Utd and West Brom both made a signing tomorrow, which story is going to be talked more about in the papers and news channels? Man Utd because they've got a bigger audience interested in them.
Its all a matter of opinion, i believe (like many do) that the standard of the games in general are a shadow of where they have been. Youre allowed to disagree without getting so upset/angry. Cas are great to watch and play the game how it should be played, i dont hear people taking that away from them or from the strides that other teams have made.
