Of course the temptation and perhaps the expectation is that the club will bounce straight back into the top flight but, the reality could be massively different, Bradford being a prime example.
Everyone expected them to gain promotion last season and many would have put their mortgage on them being in the top 4 this season.
As others have said, without a wealthy owner, who is willing to plug the gap in funding vs expenditure, or a ruthless CEO who is determined to control costs, any relegated club faces financial melt down.
All of us should hope that this doesn't happen and for Salford in particular, let's hope that the pantomime villain (Koucash) commits his future support to the club.
Although promotion to SL is seen as reaching "the promised land", even this is fraught with danger as, the promoted club will very likely be fighting for SL survival the following season.
