Re: Reds for the drop : Thu Aug 25, 2016 3:54 pm
The statement came after the appeal was dismissed. From sources very close to the doctor, he was quite optimistic of winning. But the statement to announce a decision AFTER the mid eights is the cruncher for me.This is a personal opinion: on Friday (v HKR) the body language of our players showed little self-belief. There was some evidence of this in the preceding game v Leigh. It doesn't take much to get into a person's thinking: the comment that he might pull the plug will niggle away as the players' bread depend on their salaries. As professionals they will try to fight through this but the effect weakens their resolve when other matters cause problems (as the many errors on Friday did). Confidence and self-belief are key to sporting success: they looked missing. I am putting some of this (OK, much of this) down to the uncertainty of our future. An easy matter to solve.
As for the three possible investors: who? Who would take on a club with declining gates (don't blame the Salford posters/viewers on here: we go), with the expense of the A J Bell and possible Championship games' finances, and taking on the marketing power of City and United to get people interested?
Oh well, they're my team and my wrinkles.
