Very interesting and exciting stuff from Eric Perez http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p041h1w9#play he seems to have given up quite a lot to make this work. Also it would seem that the RU bigotry of the past is alive and well in Canada, players being threatened not to be picked for the Canadian RU 1st team if they play RL, fecking disgusting.
Oh and Dave Woods is a turnip, pulling the same shat interviewing skills as he does his commentaries. He just can't grasp that the Canadian/NA market is not like the drab/staid North of England market. He can't quite believe that Eric will get the turnover and coverage for Toronto that he states he already has. Why is Woods such a negative pile of turd ffs even posing the Q if a Canadian team is a good thing or not, what the fack is the matter with him!!

This guy Eric Perez is phenomenal. He is not only full of confidence, but he comes from exactly the kind of business background -- advertising -- that rugby league in England is so poor at. He has a knowledge of how professional sports grow --- from watching ice hockey and basketball grow in Canada -- that Nigel Wood and his cohorts wouldn't have a clue about. In other words he has all the skills that rugby league in the UK is in desperately short supply of.
I believe that Perez has a very good chance at making Toronto work, and if Toulouse is successful, then Toronto is successful, in getting into Super League, and Montreal follows Toronto, then rugby league can go to another much higher level of popularity and growth.
For far too long the powers that be have just sat on their laurels thinking everything is fine (or worse just didn't give a poop) and other sports and great opportunities have passed us by. I really really want Toronto to be as big as he says it will be, a successful Tolouse would hopefully really start to kick the game on in France but there's an awful lot of negative history and the two big other sports to contend with which will make things very difficult to get a fully fledged French league on a par with SL
Enjoyed listening to that. Perez is exactly the kind of person our sport needs.
Some of the figures he mentioned for those who haven't listened: 3,000 Season Tickets sold for 2017, and expecting 10k sell outs next season. They've had 7k attendances in the past for a standard much lower than League 1.

The season ticket sales are superb and it does appear that this guy is very well switched on with regard to marketing a new sport. Maybe he could give some pointers to the RFL ??
Also, it's good to see someone with wealth and know how come into the sport and just get on with the job, rather than ranting and raving and bigging himself up, unlike a certain owner in the Manchester area. Perhaps Koucash should take note
