If your going to use the term self defence then could argue its Simms should be going in the bin not singleton. In self defence you don't have to wait to be struck you can use a preemptive strike. Simms goes looking for singleton first, fearing for his safety struck first. He does it all the time Simms goes looking after a tackle.

For me sin bin both is fine and delt with correctly

It wasn't a tackle, Singleton put a swinging arm on Sims from behind so Sims took exception to that which he should rightly do. Singleton didn't even wait to do it head-on, he waited until he could sneakily get him from behind and possibly not be seen.

What in the world is everyone getting worried about? you have 26 extremley fit & motivated young men a competative physical sport with emotions runing on high & a scuffle breaks out, what a suprise! The ref did the right thing to take a bit of tension out of the game & not affecting either side to much. It is the reaction of the discaplinary that bothers me you only have to look at somone a bit funny & get a life ban now. At least the game has got rid of the nasty head hunters/enforcers that used to plague our game 20/30 odd years ago.

I actually loved the fight and wish there were more in the sport. Everyone in the stands was loving it, both sets of fans. It adds to the entertainment, big time!

In the NHL they have a "fighting leaderboard"! Fans love a good lunch up.

Yellow for both and get on with it. Fans get a bit of excitement, defuses the situation and get a bit of pantomime when they come back on and that first carry.

We could always go the way of ice hockey and let the players resolve it and sign enforcers specifically to kick someone in if they pick on their teammate!

Agree with this. John Holdsworth loved getting in the middle of a brawl, screaming away...afraid of nothing that guy. Firm but fair, "you, you...off" yellow card. Play the ball.

And give them helmets so they can't hit each other properly.

This is something ive wondered for about 20 years, since Neil "fat" Cowie started on Adam Fogerty and got a right pasting in the process. Both got sin binned
