€466 000 to the Ukraine and Serbia rugby league. The European Union must have so much money it doesn't know what to do with it.

I can see why they are giving money to Serbia, national team is coming on and got a good chance of qualifying for world cup if Italy don't really turn up. Couple of Serbs had trials at Warrington a couple of years ago as well I seem to remember reading.

Fantastic news.
Unfortunately it puts to shame the pathetically low, paltry amounts given to the RLEF by the RFL and RLIF.
IIRC it was approx £170k a year.
How we expect any growth with that pathetically small sum I have no idea.

It didn't say the money would all be given to Serbia and Ukraine. It said the money would be invested in a project which has six clusters, two of whom (sic) will be led by Serbia and Ukraine.

Unfortunately the writer of the article needs retraining, since apart from his difficulties with English, he cannot explain what exactly the money will be invested in other than training coaches and match officials.
Toulouse for Championship in 2017, Super League in 2019!

Avignon for Championship in 2020, Super League in 2021!

If they continue at there present rate Serbia will be the 3rd best team in Europe with 3 years. Mainly due to junior development.
