It's not the death of the game that worries me, but the lack of any actual plan to grow it. If this 888 is not about growth...it's about getting more cash from existing fans.
I thought the 888 was about changing the way the season ends, not about bringing new fans to watch games or fleecing the existing as season tickets included the 888. Like someone says when you take the amount of people who have died and those that have moved away form there region and stopped going to matched, I bet that is more than 84 so that must mean we have recruited new fans. There's a Positive !!!!!!!! Watch and enjoy the best game in the world instead of analyzing its negativity.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Given the average age of a UK rugby league fan and your apathy towards replacing fans who pass away, we've still got 30 odd years left...
What has the NRL got against suburban grounds? They seem intent on clubs playing in massive stadiums that have a capacity 5 times bigger than attendances.
Suburban grounds seem fit for purpose for all clubs (except Brisbane who have the suncorp) and create a better atmosphere and sense of occasion.

Here's a clue re suburban grounds. 1. Look at the attendance table 2. Consider the 5 lowest drawing Sydney teams 3. Consider what sort of grounds these teams play in
Allianz Stadium at 45000 is over double the size Souths or the Roosters need, but that's not too bad. ANZ at over 80000 is ridiculous. Stadiums that are less than half full, or even less than a quarter full suck the atmosphere out, they don't add to the match day experience for fans and come across as non events on TV.
