Channel 9 and the 60 Minutes program are a disgrace and used the Situation to have an attack at Cam Smith before Wednesdays Origin game. First of all Cam Smith was saying that there were 2 similar tackles were committed by the Knights against Storm Players and no Penalty. Melbourne were not happy with this and Smith as Captain spoke with the refs about this and the fact Mckinnon got injured- nobody knew how bad-because he tucked his head in when he should not of done. The conversation was around 35 Seconds long after a few minutes break. Willy Mason was Messing around at this time and was told to get away by the MO!

Smith was not involved in the tackle and was not aware of how bad it was. Even the commentators said similar about Mckinnon tucking his head in at the time. It was an accident simple as. Players are injured but Cam Smith did nothing wrong by talking to the MO at this time. Neither Smith or the MOs were involved in treating Mckinnon. When else is he suppossed to talk to the Refs?

The Melbourne Club tried to make contact but were refused a number of times. Smith was not involved in the incident and it maybe felt that Jordan Mclean, who sadly was the main Defender in the tackle was to make contact with him as well as an official from the club. Smith helped raise Money for Mckinnon and retired his Shirt for the riseforalex round and also promoted the Need to raise Money for Alex. So has hardly ignored Alex.

I have just seen Clips from the program and ist a disgrace how channel 9 have deliberately tried to use Smith as a Scapegoat and edit things to put Smith in a much worse light than what actually happened! The program didnt even make contact with Cam Smith or Melbourne Storm about this and have tried to get Smith then to tell his side of the Story next week to try. Channel 9 have no interest in Mckinnon but just wanted to get a Ratings winning Story going. The Timing just a few days before SoO is also in bad taste. Smith is fuming and said he refuses to make any more interviews with Channel 9 about this or Origin. He will only talk with 7 or Fox.

Smith does push the Limits but for People to blame him and have a go is wrong. Maybe he could have handled things better but this witchhunt is not on. The scum media are much worse and deserve the criticism.

I think what people are missing is that it hasn't appeared in the media before but people in and around the game (including Smith, the Storm, QLD RL and the NRL)have known for a long time that Alex and his family are upset with Smith.

To call QLD conspiracy is so disrespectful to the McKinnon family it's off the charts and is a sick suggestion.

Have the Aussie media ran with it? Of course just like the UK media would if it was the EPL.

But it's not a made up story. Smith has put himself in this situation. He is probably the least naive man in Rugby League.

It was grubby at the time - arguing with the ref that a guy with 8 medical staff attending to an obviously serious injury was to blame for said injury - and it's been grubby ever since. There were lots of ways that Smith could have made it better, but he chose not to, and now he's in a difficult situation; tough. He's a great talent, but a lot of his competitive advantage is gained through cheating and conning the officials.

More broadly, if Alex McKinnon is suing the NRL and is successful in that, it could have much wider ramifications for the game - it won't help McKinnon, but it might just frighten the sports governing bodies into bringing some genuine authority to bear in terms of what is, and isn't, acceptable in terms of contact, particularly in the tackle and subsequent melee.

Just a little clarity. It has been acknowledged the Storm including Smith new Alex had an issue but didn't realise it centred around Smith's comments.
