Newcastle is a nice town. It is where Eric Burdon and The Animals are from. There must be something gritty and soulful about the place. But from my time there I noticed that Newcastle had some nice pubs and bars, and girls with nice knockers, so it would not be a unenjoyable away trip.

Went fishing 'got a few bites' !!! Well done to all concerned. Newcatle Thunder aim to get 'promotion' what is wrong with that ? Hoped a few would knew who I supported, or 'searched my posts'.....yes I follow the arrogant/dirty Leigh Centurions. :ROCKS:

McDermott is going. I actually think he is more relaxed because of it, and seems to have let the shackles go. He apparently asked to finish the season, and that is what they agreed.

I wish everyone would read bramleyrhino's post two or three times just to get it through some thick skulls

Mr bramleyrhino speaks a lot of sense.

Supporters of the game complain incessantly that this sport doesn't get media coverage.

The Newcastle Chronicle is currently printing RL content every day this week and has actually been very positive and supportive of the event. Its hacks are obviously looking for more content and Newcastle Thunder has obliged, providing a perfectly innocent "one day we'd like to be in SL" comment piece.

What on earth is there to sneer at?

Re: Newcastle Thunder plot Super League course : Fri May 29, 2015 4:17 pm
The ideal situation is if we see Newcastle in Super League in conjunction with London Broncos, London Skolars, Toulouse, Paris, Bradford, Coventry and Oxford, at the expense of Wakefield, Castleford, Widnes and Leigh. The latter four would do nicely as advertisements for the M62 Championship. At the same time Super League would look more national and international. :ROCKS:

At that point nobody in the mass media would would be sneering at the 16 team Super League anymore.

If only Thunder had not been liquidated in 2009 coach Rowley would have led Leigh Centurions into the lowest tier of professional rugby league.

It may not be hard to beLEIGHve but hard to take.

The Leigh club have bad-mouthed London,Crusaders and Thunder.

Must be hard living in the shadow of Wigan. They seem to have a complex.

Not that I particularly want to drag the thread out, but it could certainly be argued that Leigh would have finished outside of the relegation places anyway if Gateshead hadn't been throwing around money that they didn't have which of course led to their voluntary relegation.

Anyway, back on topic, 2,500 there tonight, hope they enjoyed it. After a few of their recent results, I backed York at 2/1 from scratch so Newcastle can sod off as far as I'm concerned

No surprise to see a Leigh follower pass comment, and slur,on another club without even reading about the putative reasons for the liquidation.

No surprise to see Keith Christie being one of those from the Geordie Nation who jumped on the 1992 Kevin Keegan bandwagon.

No surprise to see the Leigh born Mick Hogan have a foot in both camps but keep well away from Leigh following his education in a north east university and interest in the other code.

It is no doubt down to the influence of Mr Hogan that the investment and assistance afforded to the Thunder club has been realized.

It is a surprise that someone from Leigh has some discipline, affability and success.
