It seems IL has signed Tomkins on big money thinking the marquee player allowance will be passed and Tomkins wage will be off the cap. He openly admits they will be in trouble if it does not. I would suggest that if the salary cap was tested in a court of law, it wouldn't survive.

Why would you suggest that when it is in place in hundreds of competitions in dozens of countries? You think someone wouldn't have challenged it somewhere if there was a case?
It does t stop you earning, anymore than me having A set salary budget for my business that I can only pay staff at.

But if your employer colluded with another down the street to agree the wages that they would each pay then that would be more akin to the salary cap!

It does seem risky- however 5 clubs -including Leeds- voted for the marquee ruling last time. With only 10 teams in SL now they only have to convince one other.

Marwan tweeted the other day that the current proposition only benefits Leeds, Saints and Wigan so it would surprise me if he voted no.

Judging from IL's remarks about Widdop, it could well be that it is indeed Leeds who have fallen for it.
