It will continue to get worse as long as some Leigh fans continue to be sore winners and antagonize pretty much everyone else! Got nothing against the club, admire them for what they've achieved considering they were on the brink a few years back. Don't mind them winning or upsetting the SL cart, it's just some fans like to be too much up in their own arris.
This in a nutshell! I've been very complimentary about Leigh and they deserve a crack at SL again. However, some of the arrogance on show from fans and club officials alike is starting to grate a huge amount. Then again. It's probably rubbing off from "The Worlds Biggest Club" down the road!
If , for arguments sake, it is assumed that the game on the field is the reason why RL exists and is the Key performance indicator, then all clubs should have the right to to try and reach the pinnacle. The fact that people want to deny this happening is why RL has suffered over the last few years. The game became elitist which is more akin to Rugby Union attitudes. One of Rugby leagues biggest strengths was a simple but fair system of if you want to play the game, you can and achieve all you want WITHOUT RESTRICTION. Denying teams the chance of even attempting to do this was RL biggest mistake. Soccer, a poor game IMO, in this country has a sucessful, money rich premiership system but does NOT deny teams the opportunity to join and even be reasonably successful. I wish Leigh, and all the other clubs the best of luck in achieving their goal. They may not be ultimately successful but who really says they, and other teams, should not deserve the right to attempt the top? RL should NOT be an elitist sport but seems to be getting that way.

How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?

I think Leigh Fans are entitled to crow at the moment. For nearly a season and a half their team have been the "only game in town" when it comes to the championship and when faced with supposed superior opposition, the side has accounted themselves very well. Of the Championship sides in the mix, I believe that they are the only hope of a team going up and if they do (I don't think they will BTW) their fans can rightly continue to crow.
If Wakefield prevail in the cup next month, I am sure these same crowing fans will happily consume some humble pie......and you can be sure that Wakefield will not be entering the field on May 17th with anything other than a desire to put down a market for later in the season!

Couldn't agree more,SL are locked in a world of their own, created by SKY..They think they are invincible because they carry the title of a SL team.Yet the Aussies again showed the level SL is at with their results.
You can only base results on facts, not assumptions. But the fact is that 4 SL teams will be meeting 4 Championship teams on level par come the middle 8's this season. Can the mighty SL live with those facts? We'll find out.
But the fact is that 4 SL teams will be meeting 4 Championship teams on level par come the middle 8's this season.
Level Par 4 Teams with more central income and permission to have more foreign players and spend more money on their players wages will play 4 teams hamstrung by constraints that essentially make the middle 8 a ridiculous scenario. These are not "challenge cup" ties where the club pays little heed to the result unless they are potential winners, but games that could cost as much as 100k in lost revenue per result for the next seasons funding.......Leigh are best placed, but are still the massive underdogs when it comes to defeating Wakefield in the middle 8 million pound game.

Oh how I miss those glory days of pre-SL RL. Every game played to packed houses in modern stadia like Cougarville, we stuffed the Aussies every Ashes, clubs were rolling in money, the sun always shone, you could leave your front door open when you went to games. I was particualrly impressed mid 80s - mid 90s.

Leigh are best placed
That didn't happen in a season Jim,thats been ongoing for 3 years, whilst the weaker sides of SL had the luxury of not being demoted, the championship sides had nothing to strive for (or did they?) within the league.
You can only work within the parameters set, whether you agree/disagree with them makes no difference.
that essentially make the middle 8 a ridiculous scenario
The playoffs in SL carries the same ridiculous scenario..As a SL team you play all season to win the league, yet only the winner of the play offs is what everyone counts as being the winner.
And I surely for one wouldn't count on Wakefield being in that bottom 4 of SL..Theres still along way to go,but very detrimental to both leagues come the middle 8's is not money,it's injuries..
