I've always enjoyed standing at rugby league game for one main reason: If there is an idiot nearby, you can move away from them.
If you get stuck with an idiot in an all-seated stadium, you are stuck with them and they can destroy the whole game, if not the whole season if you are unlucky enough to have a season ticket nearby.
Does the same apply to an RL forum? I've noticed a significant drop-off of those who used to contribute since the ramblings of a certain poster began. Is one individual causing many others to move away?

If you are referring the numpty I think you're referring to then yes, it does put me off.

I think I probably am.
Only the other day I noticed that more or less every thread had been started by him.
By coincidence, the threads no longer show the original poster next to them!

yes definately!!
i used to enjoy it and spent hours on here reading through ALL the threads, the discussion, the banter, the serious stuff and light hearted stuff.
that's changed now i hardly ever venture on to the VT anymore and if i do it's no more than 2/3 minutes because i know there is nothing but drivel and points scoring and willy waving from certain posters.

it's a shame that it's been let go like it has, now use other forums to have sensible debates ad discussions.

The quality of debate on the forum is at an all time low, it's to be hoped its an off season blip.

Two people, in particular, either make nonsensical posts or hijack threads for their own agenda/amusement.

I'm finding myself increasingly using other forums.

It's the off season, the time when all we really have to discuss is conjecture about how much better or worse any given team will be next season based on new signings and speculative "what if this expansion team existed" type threads. Some people like starting and contributing to such threads and some people don't. It doesn't matter what time of year it is, there will always be some ridiculous sounding topics and statements and will always be the usual suspects derailing threads to go off at a tangent and argue with each other endlessly. It's just that once the season has actually started we get more topics starting as things have actually happened and people start to discuss them so the off season type threads are less noticeable as they get lost somewhat in the crowd.

An off season forum is what it is. It will change after next weekend. I'm glad at least that we haven't had threads full of the seemingly impending deaths of some of our clubs during this winter.

Rarely come on here any more for the same reason. Capdouze and Gutterfax just ruin nearly every thread.

For me it isn't the vexatious posters that are the problem, it's those of you dumb enough to give them oxygen by responding. They are persuing the ancient artform of trolling. They can't ruin a thread unless you are complicit.
