I rarely post on here these days for the reasons in this thread.

Like gutterfax said, no one is holding a gun to our heads to post. So I don't as much any more. I don't get enjoyment from reading a faux Frenchman constantly rant on about expansion sides and patronising posters. And I certainly don't enjoy reading from a poster that constantly talks down rugby league and big up rugby union.

There's no gun to my head. I don't have to post here. So if this is the quality of discussion on each thread, I will read elsewhere, and the two antisocial attention seekers can enjoy arguing in an empty room with themselves.

Nobody wants to do that, nobody should have to tell you how to moderate your own forum. Trolls used to be banned outright, Jean Capdouze's previous username 'AlbertRosenfeld' was banned years ago and I'm still unsure why you're allowing a previously banned user to effectively dominate this forum.

Maybe collective self-moderation is the answer? If everyone set the said posters to their 'ignore' list (as I have now done), they would effectively be gone?

The fact that no one responds positively to your ramblings is a bit of an indicator that they do not enjoy your contribution. A thread complaining about someone being an irritant is not what any season is about.

You can have it your way then. I've read and posted on here for over 13 years. I have no interest in continuing whilst it is dominated by yourself and people's replies to your antagonism. I don't find it enjoyable and I don't actually find anything out about the game anymore.

I'll use the other forums instead. I'm clearly not the only one that feels that way. If a long time poster can't find the will to keep posting after all this time, imagine what new posters' impressions are.

Moderators take note.

You've hit the nail on the head.

It's no good complaining to the mods, they appear quite happy to let it go as long as it keeps hits on the site up and lets them sell more advertising.

The VT hasn't been properly moderated for months - remember all the bullshine these two were spouting before the world cup.

I also use other forums now. I used to enjoy the VT as I used it as my source to find out new things about the game. Now it's gone down the pan, purely because the moderators aren't getting to grips with either of the two posters.

The ignore function is there, but that only ignores their posts, not the responses and subsequent thread derailments.

I am accused by some of starting too many threads, and also of derailing threads.

On the first allegation I would note that if the threads were not interesting then almost nobody would respond to them. However most of these threads I start usually get a fair to good response in terms of numbers of other posters commenting. Often they are polls of forum members' predictions or preferences, which I and many other posters find interesting. They are rarely threads that anyone could construe as trolling. (My rough guess is less than 5% have been locked by mods).

On the second allegation I would love to know which threads I have derailed. People may be confusing me with guttersnipe. Let me be perfectly clear, I am not him. However I am certainly aware of frequently trying to bring threads that I start back on subject when others derail them.

Since when is Hull KR an expansion side?

(I have recently taken to them because of their exciting new signings).
