Joshua Mantellato is a reserve grader but can kick, Maurice Blair is so out of shape it's not funny.

Certainly the only stand outs at weekend were Kelly and Sio. Dixon scored a great try but was poor in defence, Mantellato was barely noticeable and then went off injured. Blair was out of shape and the only time I noticed him was when it looked like he was certain to score and was nailed by Lineham. Goulding was ok but again didn't do much of note. Campese kicked well.

They have the makings of a good back line, awesome is really pushing it.

Dixon has always been poor in defence. He cannot tackle anyone bigger than Robert Burrow. But he makes up for it with his attacking skills. You minimise the damage by playing him on the wing. Mantellato at full back, and Sio on the other wing gives the team great finishing skills.

The halves displayed last weekend the makings of a devastating combination. The only issue to be decided is who plays in the centre with Goulding. I would expect Blair to smarten up quickly. If he does then the team will have a very powerful strike force.

In any awesome backline Goulding would be nowhere near.

Wouldn't remotely consider swapping that "awesome" back line for what we currently have at Saints.

I'm going to be slightly biased here, but there's plenty of backlines that look very strong this coming season.

From a personal point of view, Salford's best backline would look something like this...

Locke, Ben Jones-Bishop, Sau, Greg Johnson, Mason Caton-Brown, Chase, Dobson. You could also slip in the likes of Fages, Josh Griffin, and Evalds to name a few others.

To me, it's a backline with experience and youth and is full of pace from every position. I'm not saying it's the best in the comp but it shows that a few of the 'fringe' teams also have strong squads this season. Certainly capable of upsetting any other team on the day.

Blair is massively overweight - we all laughed when he waddled on.

Campese? He never took the ball up once, just catch and pass, catch and pass. Never got involved so he's either playing with another injury or really didn't want to be there.

Dixon had one moment of brilliance then let a second rower step past him and leave him for dust then dropped a Sneyd bomb. If anyone watches that game back, Palaeeasina almost catches Dixon but tries an early ankle tap.

Kelly had a good game. If he can stay fit/interested, he'll be a great player.

Capdouze showing lack of knowledge shocker.

Blair does look unfit so i'll give you that one.

If Campese plays as badly as you say he did every week, then Rovers will do well. In the 2nd half he led the team around. He is a half back so why would he need to take the ball up? Dobson rarely took the ball up in his time at rovers and just did the 'Catch and Pass' as you call it and Hull FC tried to sign him twice!

If Dixon is as slow as you make out then Shaul must be a snail because Dixon ran him inside out then ran past him like he wasn't there.

Again with Kelly I'll agree with you.

Ateotd I think Mr Capdouze posts these things to get reactions (as all wums do). While I like the look of our back line this year, I'm not going to make such outlandish claims like the OP has. For me our back line has potential to be great but realising that potential is a totally different story.
