Apologies. I know you didnt mean for it to, but it just seemed a little disrespectful on a thread like this asking who he was, hence the replies you got.

Anyway, its not important.

Just giving page set up by Widnes. Any small contribution will help.

Widnes and Whitehaven supporters raised over £4000 at tonight's friendly to add to the already great amount raised.
Please click on the link above if you feel like you could contribute to the fund.
Kato was from a very modest background and was playing rugby league to help support his family. He must of thought he had won the lottery when he signed for Widnes. The money raised will be going to Kato's family.

That he died from heat stroke at training with the PNG Hunters, only days before his planned departure for the UK, is especially tragic. It should never have happened. He must have suffered greatly as his condition rapidly deteriorated.

It is truly sad and painful to read about his fate. He was preparing himself for the next stage in his sporting career. How unfair.

Such sad news. As he was preparing to come out here, he put himself forward to do an extra bit of training with the PNG hunters when it happened. His funeral was screened on state television, so heartbreaking. They're treated like national treasures in PNG. You only have to look at the Widnes FB page, it's gained thousands of followers, all from PNG who have adopted widnes as their team.
